Anyone have an issue like this?

I have a Bm who son is going to be our ring bearer. The BM is my future SIL. She asked my FI if it was ok if he just wore a suit and not a tux..... My FI just said it wasn't his decision. Bless him!

I thought it was my decision? The BM dresses arent picked out yet do to the fact that I am in my last semester of school and it can wait til the end of May. When the dresses are picked out, then I can decide what the guys are wearing then...

Thoughts?

  • You should take the parent's wishes into consideration for a ringbearer or flowergirl, in my opinion.  Maybe she doesn't have $100 to rent a child's tux but he already has a suit and so she was just hoping he could wear that.

  • so the BM had him dressed up more than you had pictured?

If so tell her your thoughts for the RB attire and see what she says.

  • If we were having a ring bearer, I think I'd prefer a suit...I really have a strong dislike of RBs and FGs looking like mini-grooms and mini-brides.  The suit could possibly be used for other events as a PP said, and I think little suits are cute.

  • I think pants and a shirt would be fine.  Little kids always look cute, and I honestly think it always looks funny to have a little boy dressed up in a tux.

  • Thanks everyone!
To be honest, I havent given it a thought other than the shirt and pants til the FI mentioned it. I dont want him to be a mini me walking down the aisle though, either. Its going to be more of a formal wedding and I guess, I have to see the suit. The FI is leaving a lot of the stuff too me, which is fine but then, I feel like she should have asked me.

  • It's your FI's wedding too, so it's perfectly fine that she asked him.  You're not the only one who should make decisions on this wedding.
  • I agree with you navy 100%. He is actually helping out a lot, just leaving somethings up too me. With school over in a week and externship starting next week, Ill be able to have more time and more focus.
