We were married on Saturday and we had an awful experience with our caterer.
The chicken was pink (the caterer maintains that this was cooked, just marinated) and rubbery, the rice was hard, salad soggy, buns were hard. We only found out late into the night - because our guests were complaining to H's parents and they only told us until later (I guess as to not ruin our night). Many people left after the meal (probably because they were starving). The caterer left early and we had to lay out the snack ourselves, which had some missing.
Also, this caterer came highly recommended by H's uncle, who was good friends with him... and now he is ashamed and disappointed.
We got $800 knocked off the price (which is almost half, it was a small wedding), but that doesn't solve the problem that some of the guests described the meal as "their worst meal at a wedding ever". I feel like I could just cry, and I don't know what we can do to make it up to the guests. At this point, we're done with the caterer - but I need to know if there's something we can/should do for the guests.
I wanted to mention it in the thank you cards but H doesn't think that's a good idea - I just feel like we need to apologize in some way but I have no idea what to do.
