specific tip questions - HELP! (long)

Okay, what percentage to tip each, if at all:

1) Wedding planner - my main planner does not own the business
2) Wedding hair makeup - comes free with my planning option, normally around $150
3) Bridesmaid hair/makeup - if they would like to get their hair done, I'm paying half of the $120 without tip - who pays tip or just split? How much?
4) Band: they are the all a mutual part, and charging us $1800 for 9 members (we are also letting 2 of the wives come to the wedding)
5) photographer (owns her own business, bring 2nd shooter for $500) she is charging us $1500 for 8 hours
6) ceremony band: 3 people for 1.5 hours - $750 (includes 2nd line)
7) photobooth delivery person? It is included in set up, but not sure
8) carriage driver - $300 includes gratuity, but not sure if I should add on?
10) cake delivery person? included in wedding package
11) florist  - not actual florist, does it on the side, includes delivery, breakdown, setup
12) event coordinator for the hotel - I already paid a minimum and a ceremony fee, not to mention 20% grat on minimum and 10% tax, but it is pretty expensive

Thanks girls!

Re: specific tip questions - HELP! (long)

  • 1) Wedding planner - my main planner does not own the business - I did about 20%
    2) Wedding hair makeup - comes free with my planning option, normally around $150 - I did 20% (of the $150)
    3) Bridesmaid hair/makeup - if they would like to get their hair done, I'm paying half of the $120 without tip - who pays tip or just split? How much? - talk with your BMs about it, tip 20%
    4) Band: they are the all a mutual part, and charging us $1800 for 9 members (we are also letting 2 of the wives come to the wedding) - I'd probably do 20%, but I didn't have a band, so I'm not sure.
    5) photographer (owns her own business, bring 2nd shooter for $500) she is charging us $1500 for 8 hours - I just gave mine an extra $100.
    6) ceremony band: 3 people for 1.5 hours - $750 (includes 2nd line) - We gave $50 to each of our musicians, and $100 to the one who also played at our cocktail hour.
    7) photobooth delivery person? It is included in set up, but not sure - check and see if it's included, otherwise, I'd think something small, like $20 might work.
    8) carriage driver - $300 includes gratuity, but not sure if I should add on? - Maybe an extra 20%, because they like extra, but if 20% gratuity is included, don't worry too much.
    10) cake delivery person? included in wedding package - Do they work for the bakery or ARE they the baker? We didn't tip ours because she was a one woman show and charged delivery, but if it's just a delivery person, I'd probably tip $50 for the set up.
    11) florist  - not actual florist, does it on the side, includes delivery, breakdown, setup - ours also did it on the side and runs her own business. We didn't tip, but she only delivered personal flowers and charged a delivery fee.
    12) event coordinator for the hotel - I already paid a minimum and a ceremony fee, not to mention 20% grat on minimum and 10% tax, but it is pretty expensive - why do you have 2 separate coordinators?

  • I agree w/PPs - the only thing I have to add, as far as bridesmaid hair, would be that maybe you can just give each girl a GC to the salon or company. That way they can see how much the service actually costs, and tip on the full price and not just the half they are paying for.

  • yes, it's in New Orleans, so carriages are pretty common.

I'm having an actual wedding planner and then hotel has a "catering manager" which pretty much acts as a coordinator for the hotel/kitchen that night. She is by no means a planner/overall coordinator though.

Thanks girls! The advice was really helpful!

  • I also told each girl how much makeup would cost and offered to pay half, so they should all be aware of the full cost. I will discuss the tip situation when I confirm their makeup appointment.

    Thanks again!!
