My gmail got hacked. My phone shows that I sent one of those emails with just a link to a bunch of people, and then it asked me to validate my password because it wasn't right anymore. When I got back to my computer, I'd be signed out, and I was told that due to suspicious activity on my account, I'd have to give them my phone number so they could text me a verification code. Of course, it let me choose Chile and then said Chile wasn't a supported country. So I'm just waiting until gmail support feels like emailing me back. ARGH. /vent

Poor Emily That sucks. It really feels weird when email gets hacked... It's like a huge privacy invasion. Hope they get back to you soon!

I'm sorry I'm always embarrassed when my twitter gets hacked and stuff. I don't want my friends to really think I like my man to take viagra.

I've gotten so many of those emails with just a link lately, but I have no idea if there's a way to avoid being hacked or what. I mean it's not like I go around giving out my email password to strangers.

It's obviously not the worst thing in the world, but it's just such a pain.

I would change any of your social media accounts that might have had the same password as your email. I had to go through all of that once.

Birdie, the very first thing I did was the bank account that shares that password. I did Twitter, and I'm going to do FB once I'm on my home computer where I can access it.

And I know what you mean about being embarrassed - I've been minorly annoyed every time I've gotten one of these links, assuming someone clicked on something stupid, and now I'm the one sending them out!

I had to go through that with Yahoo before. "I" had sent out an email for all of the mail enhancement medicines to everyone in my address book. Including my mom, aunts and pastor at church.

Same thing happened to FI's gmail account today. It does suck Good luck getting it resolved.

I just checked H's spam folder (I gave his email as the address they could use to contact me) to see if he had something from me. No, but he did have an email from Google Support asking me to fill out a form so they can do an investigation. Really, Gmail put its own support email into spam? Stupid. Good thing I checked though, or I would have just been sitting here waiting.

I had my FB hacked once. "I" was telling all my friends that photos of them had been posted to a website and they needed to check it out. That sucked. I'm glad it's back Emily!
