Re: This board is so dead! Is anybody here?

  • I'm here. I haven't been able to sleep lately so I'm up watching tv, knotting and crocheting at the same time. I'm debating trying to go to bed at midnight or just staying up until I fall asleep.
  • i don't have enough energy to be the entertainment but hi!

  • I think Julia pics are entertaining :)
  • Yes!  Julia pics!!!

I'm trying to debate watching more tv or convincing DH to come to bed.

  • Scott went to bed 5 hours ago. Then again, he has to wake up for work in 4 hours, so yeah.

I just need to figure out how to get back on a good sleep pattern since I go back to work in 3 weeks and will have to start waking up at 5:30am again.
  • i haven't transfered new ones from the camera since thursday.  i have a video though.  how do i upload that?

  • I'm here! H is out of town this weekend, so it's just me and the pup...she's sleeping, and I'm catching up on the work I missed on Monday by getting stuck in Dallas airport overnight. Pretty exciting Saturday night, I know.

Katie, why can't you sleep lately? Is it just random, or were you on a weird sleep schedule for a reason?
  • Roxy that is no good.

I don't know if you can do videos.

    Sigh.

  • Yeah, I kinda didn't think so.

Oops. Someone looks like she's getting ready to eat....again.  I may have to run.

  • No good at all. Thats what I get for taking a massive nap.
  • It seems random Emily, mostly in the past week. I just cannot turn my brain off no matter how tired I am and keep myself awake with internal dialogue. Last night I just started repeating "shut up shut up shut up" over and over again to try to block it out and it still didn't work.
  • I'm here, but I am no fun at all.  (see my other post for details)

I am, however, drinking.  So I may become fun soon.

  • Oh Katie, that sucks. Sometimes I make up stories in my head with dialogue before fallin asleep and I hate it. I don't do it on purpose but I cant make it stop.
  • I listen to podcasts to fall asleep when my brain won't shut off.  Its really hard for me sometimes.  Having a story going on in the background helps.

  • Katie, I hate those nights. Luckily I don't usually have two or more in a row since one tires me out enough that I can sleep the next day. And Roxy, that sucks. I don't like naps, I always feel so groggy afterward.

aMrs, your e-mail situation sounds like a nightmare! Also, in the thread where we were talking about international marriages, a poster asked how you'd gotten your fiancee visa so quickly. Am I right in thinking that you're from the US but have moved elsewhere, so you weren't getting a US fiance visa but instead a visa for you in...England? Australia? Or am I just crazy?
  • Yeah, normally I can tell myself a story and go to bed, but lately everything drowns it out. Picture a crowded train station where 40 conversations are going at once, that's my brain right now.

I can't do naps at all. I wake up groggy and sleepy and disoriented. Dh is the king of the 15 minute power nap.
  • I never, ever take naps because they make me feel guilty (for not doing something more productive, you know, like knotting haha) but we got up early today so I decided I could...yea, blegh.
  • Well I think I might actually be going to bed.  I will be knotting tomorrow I'm sure.  I can't wait until DH passes his boards and is fun again - until then you ladies are a major source of entertainment!

    Nighty night!

  • Yeah that too. I really only take naps now if I'm sick. One day I got home from work at 5pm, went upstairs to flop on the bed and never came down. I woke up the next day at 2pm (as in, slept for 27 hours). Scott said I got up to pee a couple times and drink some water but I don't remember it.
  • emily, yeah we did it the harder way, we got me into Australia.

  • Ok, glad to know I wasn't just inventing a whole expat lifestyle for you out of nothing :)

Andy, night! I feel your pain...H has decided to start training for handball again, which means that if all goes well (ie. no injuries and not getting cut from the team) I will have him back in February. They're training til the end of the year for the world championships in Sweden, and then they'd be gone for 3 weeks, so I see many nights on here while I'm home alone in my future.
  • Attempting to sleep, take 1! Hopefully I won't be back in an hour.
  • I'm awake and listening to Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire."  Anyone want to join me?
