I wanted to get some advice about something. My parents threw my fiance and I an engagement party. We had finished opening gifts and my fiance realized we did not open a card from his close aunt and cousins. I remember them handing me a card but we could not find it anywhere. In this situation, what is the best way to approach this? I don't know if there was cash or a check (if it was cash I would feel badly telling them because I would never want them to feel like they have to 'replace' it) but if it was a check, they would find out anyway because we would not cash it. I'd also be unsure exactly what to write in the thank you (because maybe there was no money in the card, which is ok but I would want to acknowledge a gift if they gave one). Should we bring this to their attention and if so what is the most polite way?
