There are still good teenagers in the world.

As I was outside scraping the 1/4 inch of ice off my car, freezing my butt off, a teenage boy from the townhouses that share a parking lot with our complex came out to get something from a car.  He went back inside and came out again with a coat and glvoes and a scraper, and helped me scrape the ice off my car!

Then I went to Target, and I got in line behind a teenage girl and her mom who had a cart full of stuff.  The girl saw I only had toilet paper and bread and said "Oh, Mom, let her go ahead of us."

I was shocked and amazed.  Karma has my back today!

  • I really hate that people generalize so bad about teenagers 'now days'. My dad is almost 80 and is a former teacher. He says that yeah, there are a few shitheads out there, but generally they aren't that bad. If you can get past the normal hormonal mood swings of them that is.

I'm glad you had a good experience :)

  • As a teacher, there are so many good kids that I work with.  It just sucks that the bad ones get all the attention and make everyone look bad.  Sure, kids can do stupid things, but most of them are pretty good hearted.

btw - de-icer spray (I like the non aerosol one) is the BEST.  It has saved me so much time from scraping in the past.

  • That makes me smile. We had a little neighbor kid that was like that.
  • Good to know, Sucrets!

Yeah, it seems like a lot of crappy ones live around us here, so it was nice to see some good ones!  I know they're out there!
  • What great kids, good on them for being decent human beings.
  • That's awesome!  I wish there were more considerate people like that, at any age.

  • Great point, Panda.  Those kids were more helpful and considerate than most adults would be.  That's sad.
  • I really don't have too many bad kids on my teams.   A few here, or there, but mostly they're good kids at heart - although a lot of them don't know how to show that.

The parents, on the other hand. . . 2/3 of them are terrible.  Enough so that I'm going to ref this winter instead of coach.

  • Every morning when I leave the high school aged kid that lives across the hall is also leaving.  The other day when he saw me on crutches he ran outside and shovelled the snow off the walkway for me and then offered to help me get down the stairs.  Most adults won't even hold doors at the store for me.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I'm glad to had such a great day with teeneagers. :) Me? Not so much.

Some parents out there are definitely raising their kids well!
