Intro/ I can't believe some people...

Hi everyone!  My name is Cassandra, my FI is Tyler & we're getting married Sept 4, 2010.  I have never posted on this board before, I'm always on the September '10 board but I posted something on there and someone suggested I share it with you ladies as well so I thought I would introduce myself before I did that.

Anyhow, my sister emailed me telling me what she had read on facebook on someones wedding event page.  Their description/news said (copied & pasted directly from that page):

We Ask everyone To please not bring gifts just bring cards with your choice of amount of money inside to go towards our honey moon...

Could you imagine telling people to bring a card full of money to your wedding???

Cass, if you page through the recent posts here on this board, you'll see this has come up a lot lately. Probably why your locals told you to come over here. Nobody thinks this is a good idea. Because.. well.. it's not.

If you go to their wedding, maybe bring a huge wrapped gift to the reception. Like I'd save a big box from something else (a computer monitor or a TV?) and then put something small in it like some kitchen utensils.

That or a card with Monopoly money. They could theoretically use that on their honeymoon if they, uh, play monopoly.

I just saw an invitation today for a birthday party. One line said, in all caps/bold, "NO CHILDREN ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES!"

Seriously.
