TK is being wonky for me (afternoon thread, hopefully)

How is everyone's afternoon going? I just ran into Jane Lynch while I was coming back from the bank, which was neat.

Re: TK is being wonky for me (afternoon thread, hopefully)

  • It's wonky for everyone I do believe. No surprises there.

I'm hungry already and I still have an hour of work, then another 45 minutes before I'm home because of the bus.
  • Wonky for me too. Just woke up from a nap before I head into my night shift.
  • Well, it was neat, but my friend practically shouted "IS THAT JANE LYNCH?!?" and I walked the other way. Then I wished I told her I liked the commencement speech she gave at my alma mater last month.

And even though it is hot as balls outside, it is freezing cold in my office. I'm turning into a Button-sicle.

  • Yea that's pretty awesome. I've never ran into someone famous or seen anyone famous in everyday life for that matter... We don't get famous people in our small town. Britney Spears did stop in to our Tim Hortons once though. That's all I got.
  • I've had at least 40 compliments on my outfit today. It's a coral plaid dress and a coral sweater with white pumps, but it must look really good today! LOL

Leaving work at 4:30 to go home and cook dinner and clean house with hubby. Can't wait to get out of here!

  • Dave Chappelle is from a small town near me. While leaving the local coffee shop, my clumsy self collided with him. Me: "Sorry I burned you. I like your show."

I am hungry. I had an early lunch, which I didn't finish (not a fan of the horseradish mayo I didn't know would be slathered all over my sandwich).
  • Lately every thread I attempt to participate in disappears. Not a good time to try to get into the fold, apparently.

I'm sitting at work with the AC cranked, since it's about 100 degrees outside. The doctor's out today, so I have no patients. Thus far, I've seen... the mailman. It's been a long, slow day.

  • Afternoon ladies, this is my first pop into the knot today. Work has been super busy. It is hot, hot, hot here in Western NY. I see icecream in my future for dinner tonight since FI will be working keeping the power on so everyone can run their airconditioners and fans.
  • Living in the DC area has a lot of downfalls, but you're bound to see some random "famous" people. Apparently Pauly Shore was hanging out under a tree outside of our building the other day. Weird.

I saw Pauly D a few years ago at the mall. He had seven bodyguards, which I thought was a bit excessive at 11am on a weekday at the mall. I got so giggly when Dwight from the Real Housewives of Atlanta was on my flight from DC to Atlanta. I did manage to get a picture with him, though. And I saw Dave Chappelle at the ATM in the Capitol Building. And there's always some politician nearby.

  • We went on a family vacation to NYC in 1999 (before NCIS came out). We saw the guy who plays Ducky, and my mom nearly peed her pants. She says that back in the day, he was a heartthrob on one of her favorite shows.

He looked at her, saw that she recognized him, and tipped his hat at her. We did lots of fun stuff that week, but that's by far her favorite memory.

[QUOTE]These kisses are melting in my mouth. Nom. I saw Minkus/Mouth (from Boy Meets World and One Tree Hill) at the mall a few times, ran into Katie holmes at the airport, I'm pretty sure I saw Alanis Morrisette walking in NYC one time.

That is awesome. I love that show so much.

I don't know that I've had any chance encounters with celebrities. I think it's always been that we knew they were going to be there.
  • I am doing the most boring data entry (that isnt even part of my job anymore, but I'm stuck) and the only thing keeping me from smashing my head against the desk is listening to early 2000s pop music.

  • Things are wonky here, too.

It's always freezing cold in my office, so even though it's hot as hell outside, I can't wear any fun dresses to work in the summer. I don't like having to take off tights, boots, etc before I go outside.

Most of the people I've randomly seen were musicians, and it was near or at a concert I was attending or working at. So I guess that's not entirely random. Oh, Ron White did have lunch at the table next to us; we'd just gotten tickets to see him perform live later that night. I've run into Vikings players around town before, and I saw Tracy Morgan at the airport in Chicago once.

[QUOTE]You just ran into her? I bet that was fun. It's really hot in here, and I'm trying to convince myself I don't need to eat anymore kisses, even though they ARE chocolate and they can melt.

Well, if they're going to get all hot and melty, they might as well get hot and melty in your mouth.

The things I would do to him...

And Ellion Stabler. And Derek Morgan. But only the characters... I don't give a damn about Michael Weatherly, Christopher Maloney or Shemar Moore.

NCIS, Law & Order SVU and Criminal Minds.

  • Ah, I've only watching some of Criminal Minds. I love it but I don't watch it often enough to remember names. :)
  • Hey ladies! I'm just popping in for a minute between clients, but I'm happy TK mobile is finally acknowledging the existence of a new thread :P I'm so jealous about you meeting Jane Lynch! I hung out with Will Patton on set when I was an extra in A Mighty Heart. Apparently he turns into the hulk if you approach him or recognize him, so I just pretended I had no idea who he was! Later on that same day, I literally bumped into Brad Pitt while going to collect my check. He was shorter than I'd pictured

    ETA: P and R time.
  • He is pretty. :) I'm out ladies. Home, then swimming and dinner with the H. If I come on here tonight, remind me that I have things to do. Like putting gifts away and writing thank yous.
  • Hola. I see the screw-up fairy has been visiting TK again.

  • Afternoon. I've got another 3 hours of work, then home to pack for my trip. It sounds like we aren't leaving until late afternoon tomorrow, so we won't get to Utah until 4-5 AM on Friday. Yaaaaaay. Not.
  • Wonky here too. Nothing interesting today, just chores. Blagh.

  • I am getting ready to leave work, H and I are thinking about getting a dog, it'll be nice when he works late and I have always wanted one, the only problem is i'm mildly allergic to dogs. I am nervous though, not sure how Dakota will handle it, I don't want to start another pet problem.

  • Afternoon ladies (and gents).

Today was my half day. Although I really didn't feel like one after I ran all my errands. Now I'm just knotting and watching Law and Order re-runs.

I think we found a place to live. It's not the one for the other day. I think we decided to stay in the same building just move down to a 1 bedroom. Cons: We will lose a bedroom and bath. Pros: saves us $500 a month, the living room and master bedrooms are actually bigger. Because of the location there is not a support beem in the kitchen which makes that look bigger also, even though it's not. It's close work (me a half block, DH 1.5 blocks). Plus we like the doormen and stuff.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Sounds good, Lynda! I hope it works out for you guys.
