HELP Please.

I think I have a dilemma. My VERY good friend asked me to be in her wedding (its in 4 weeks out of state) and happily accepted.

WELL... I seemed to have forgotten my extreme level of clumsiness and fell down my stairs a couple of weeks ago and broke my foot. Long story short.. the doctors went back and forth as to whether was broken or sprained etc...(in the meantime they put me in an oh so cool 'air traveler' walking boot). Well I went for my 3 week check up  and they sent me for an x-ray. X-ray showed it is INDEED broken (not to mention in 3 places and they proceeded to tell me they havent seen anyone break this bone in years). They put me in a half leg cast and told me absolutely NO WALKING for 3 weeks. In 3 weeks I will need to go back, have the cast removed and hopefully they can put a walking cast on me for another 3 weeks. (I broke my cuneiform - which is the bone used for weight bearing..yeah I know) I informed my bride this evening with the not so great news, but she has yet to write back to me. I am sure she is upset as am. I dont know what to do.....

I still want to be apart of her big day and stand up there for her and her FH but at this rate I will not be able to walk down the aisle, nor can I wear the 3 1/2 in heels she got for us to wear, not to mention I will not be able to stand on my own for 20 mins for the ceremony. I dont want to stand up there with crutches, or even have to crutch it down the aisle. Do I back out of the wedding and attend as a guest? Do I draw attention to myself standing up for her with crutches and a casted leg?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Re: HELP Please.

  • Yeah I can't imagine anyone would be upset at you for breaking your leg. Just be honest and tell her how you feel and what you will need to be  a part of her wedding. You seem flexible and as long as you convey that I think you will be fine.
