addressing an envelope- question

Hi -

I'd like to invite a woman from my work but I've never met her husband, would I still address it "mr. and mrs. (husbands name)" even though I've never met him?

Thanks

Kat

Re: addressing an envelope- question

  • I think what you're thinking of doing is fine. But some women, myself included, really don't like being called Mrs. Husband's Name. That's why I addressed envelopes to Jane and John Smith, leaving off titles.

  • Generally yes, however many women I know dislike that traditional wording, so I asked people what they preferred if there were any question.

Some people prefer Ms. Jane and Mr. John Doe.

  • I would just address to Mr. & Mrs. Last Name, leave the first name off

  • if you know his name, then it makes no sense to leave his first name off.  so Mr. and Mrs. John Smith or Jane and John Smith if you dont use titles is what should be done.

Even if you don't know his name, do you know if your cw kept her maiden name? If not, I agree w/ PP's to use Mr. & Mrs. Last name. You should find out his name anyways, their escort card should have his name on it. Just ask!

sorry for the duplicate post- TK was being crazy this morning and wasn't showing the message and I got an error message after I posted the first one. SORRY - but thank you!
