what are the thoughts on inviting peoplel from work to a bridal shower but not to the wedding.

Don't do it, it's impolite.

If your coworkers throw you a shower, you are not obligated to ask them to the wedding.  If you invite them to a shower, you must invite them to the wedding.

It's not okay to invite anyone to the shower that isn't invited to the wedding.

If your coworkers threw you a shower at work, it would be okay to accept a work shower and not invite them all to the wedding, but if you're talking about a regular shower with family and friends, then no, you can't invite them.

If they are invited to the shower, they have to be invited to the wedding. That's just rude otherwise.
