Car Wreck and a Cable Box (rants go here)

I am seriously going to freak out on the cable guy if this goes on much longer.

Long Version:
Our local cable provider switched to digital boxes last week without notifying us. The switch meant that we now no longer received cable signal until we upgraded our box. Super annoying, but hey we'll get a new box it'll work. That was 6 days ago. We got the box two days later. No problem, we'll hook it up and it'll work. Wrong. The new box they sent us didn't work (after about 7 hours of trying different connection variations I gave up). So now I'm starting to get annoyed. I contact the cable company by phone, no one answered their 24 hour help line. Well isn't that helpful. Then I went online and used their online chat function for help...well the lady talked me through the set up asked if I had it set up like she instructed, I said yes, she asked is it working? I said no. She said thanks have a nice day and disconnected the chat. I about threw my laptop across the room.

By this time it's too late at night to call their main office, so the next day I called their main branch to schedule a technician to come out. Fast forward to today. Technician is scheduled to come between 10-12. Perfect because that's right between two of my classes and it works for me. Well, the guy didn't show up till 11:15 so that means that he'll have to be quick so I can get to class. Well the guy isn't quick, in fact he's slower than molasses and he is still here and there is still no picture. He has swapped out the box 3 times, plugged in and unplugged all of the cables running out of my tv at least ten times each and still nothing. I have now missed my classes, and I am fuming. The guy is planning on leaving without it fixed. He had the audacity to say that it was my fault that the cable doesnt work because we have tivo. Well guess what, last week the tivo worked just fine with the cable box, then the next day you guys switched it up. Nothing changed with the tivo, I'm 100% sure it's a problem with the cable box. Ugh.

Side note, my close friend is an architect and his firm recently built the main office of this local cable company and gave me a tour last week. He mentioned that one of the biggest things that the cable company wanted was a very large security wall that surrounded the building along with a small ditch surrounding the fence. Apparently they have a huge problem with people wanting to ram their cars into the building. I wonder why.

Oh boy, the supervisor just showed up!
