Alterations Question...

How many visits to your seamstress did it take yall  to have alterations made to your gown? What did you have done to your gown? And who was/is your seamstress?

most of the girls use olga, you can check her out on the nc bride biomy first visit is next weekend and she has told me to at least count on four visits, maybe more.i am having her change the top of the dress from strait topless cut to sweatheart neck, she is taking out the zipper in the back and making it a partial open corset back, also since the bottom is tiered lace she said she would probably have to remove the lace completely, take up the length and then put the lace back on....oh yeah, also going to bustle

My seamstress is at the bridal shop where I got my dress and I had two visits. One for before and one for after. All she did was hem the front of it a little till it was right off the ground. Going on what everyone else has had done, I think mine was pretty simple!

I used Olga. I had 4 visits w/ her. #1 was to look at my gown & do the basic pinning. #2 was 3-4 hours after that. She asked me to stop back by, since I was out of town, to reconfirm that she was on the right track (she had already changed out the zipper!).#3 was the final fitting.#4 was the next day (2 days before the wedding) & she had steamed it, added a little bow to the back, & taught us how to tie the bustle.I had a 9-point french bustle w/ 18 snaps, she replaced the zipper, hemmed, adjusted the straps, let out the top a little, & put in cups.

I had 5 fittings – all within the last 2 months of the before the wedding.  We did a lot of work to my dress, changing the neckline, bringing things in, taking things out…etc.  My one regret was I didn’t have a final final fitting.  She measured the hem in the last fitting and then my dad picked it up the next week.  My dress was about ½ inch too long.  I kept stepping on it when I was dancing and I tripped a couple of times on stairs and such.  Aside from the hem my dress fit like a glove it was completely tailored to me and looked great!  I did all my alterations though the bridal boutique where I bought the dress in Cary, Alexia's Bridal Boutique  - coincidentally is less than a half of a mile away from Olga. Who did an awesome job on my rehearsal dinner dress.

Olga.I have had 2 already and have 3 more scheduled.I am getting the zipper upgraded to invisible, the bust line let out and the beading updated because of the nip/tuck. Also upgarding the bustle so you can see the detailing.

My mom is doing mine. I had to have it taken in, and a 3pt. overbustle added. I tried the French bustle and it looked weird with my dress. I think my mom was happy about that. :)

I only had two alterations appointments with Olga. First one, just to show her the dress, try it on, and have her point out what she needed to do. She did a bustle, added bra cups, hemmed the dress a bit, and that's it.

I only had one set of alterations made, putting in the bustle. I got it done at my bridal shop, Poffie Girls. The number of alterations you'll need is entirely dependent on your dress. If it has a corset back you probably won't need a whole lot done other than bustle & hem. If it zips or buttons, you will probably need more to get it to fit correctly.

I had two visits--one to drop it off and one to pick it up.  It fit perfectly.

I've had 3 appointments so far and will have a final fitting 2 weeks prior to my wedding.  This will allow time for any last minute tweaks/issues to be resolved.  The first appointment was to discuss what I wanted done and pin the bodice (where the bulk of the work was needed).  The second appointment required additional work to be done to the bodice and she tacked the hem.  The third appointment was to check the bodice (it was finished) and the hem again and then we discussed the bustle.  The fitting, everything we've already discussed will be complete but it's an opportunity for any last minute tweaking.  I had all alterations done at the bridal shop where I purchased the dress -- Alexia's bridal in Cary.
