Re: Rob Zemeckis is dead to me

  • Well...it can't be as bad as The BeeGees in Sgt. Pepper right??

  • At first I thought that this post said he was dead, and I was all, "Oh well, Forrest Gump sucked anyway."

  • Shh, it's okay, it's okay. Maybe it won't be a disaster. He did do "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," after all, so clearly he's coming from a fan's perspective.

    Oops..sorry :-p
  • There is a huge difference between doing a movie about a band and completely remaking something they did - part of the charm about it was the art/animation, and the new version is going to be CGI'd all to hell.

Arb, what's your main concern? Let's cry it out here.

Edit: Never mind, simultaneous post. :)

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

I see what you mean. That would be like remaking "A Hard Day's Night" (just threw up a little again).

What I meant was, maybe it will just be terrible, and not insultingly, soul-crushingly terrible if he does it with the love of a fan. As opposed to like, Uwe Boll or McG.

  • If he were really a fan he would appreciate it for what it is and leave it alone.

  • Good point. Have you read anything about why he is doing this in the first place?

  • No, but I'm sure he's just trying to cash in on the resurgance in popularity The Beatles have had lately.

  • Oh dear. I shudder to think of what might be "re-made" next.

Btw, I might be crazy but I swore I saw Ringo, Ben Harper, and a Japanese violinist perform on The Daily Show last night. Did you catch that? They did a random song, and then "With a Little Help From My Friends," but got cut off toward the end. I don't know why they were there doing that together, so maybe I was dreaming?

  • Ringo has a new album coming out, so I know he's been going around doing the talk show circuit.

  • Ah, makes sense. I was surprised with the pairing with Ben Harper and his band. They were basically just singing/playing backup, which I guess is what you do when you play with a Beatle. Even an old grump like Ringo. ;)
