Hotel for Out of Towners

Both myself and my fiance will be having quite a few out of town guests at our wedding. I would like to set aside a block of rooms at a few different hotels for them.  I've found two different hotels. Both are good, only one is a little higher end and the other is more affordable. My problem is I'm not sure how many rooms, what dates, etc. Nobody I know has ever done anything like this. Most people think I shouldn't bother. Though now that the rsvp's are coming in, guests are asking for hotel recommendations.

You can have hotel blocks at two different hotels if you want in two different price points. I would probably block the hotel for the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. Those are the two nights that most people would need to stay.

Make sure when talking to the hotel, you will not be charged for any unused rooms within your block. I would block off a couple different room types at each hotel--some with king beds for couples and some with two beds for families. As far as how many to block, some hotels have a limit. Our hotel said they'd block up to 20 at first and then if those filled, they'd release more rooms to us, so I would talk to the hotel. But in general, I would think about how many families/couples have to travel and book about that many. It's OK if you book too many (as long as you won't be charged for them).

ETA: Just re-read that RSVps are already coming in. You can check but it may be too late to book a hotel now. Most room blocks are released back out to the general public a month or so before the wedding and guests have to book the hotel block way in advance.

Thanks so much! The wedding is just over 2 months away so I think I'll go ahead and just recommend a few hotels.

Why do you have RSVP's coming back when you are still more than 2 months away from the date?
