I would join that group! I know that knotties have gotten to know each other really well through here, but I find it's a bit hard. Maybe I'm just not 'out there' enough.

My month board has a fb group and there are still over 100 of us on the fb group. It's super active. 

But, yes, I agree... sometimes I miss the days of the old america online chat groups.  Most people under 30 probably won't even know what I'm talking about.

I am taking care of two sick puppies... force feeding, pedialyte and subcutaneous fluids every 2 hours.  No sleep here !

two boxer puppies that we rescued from a backyard breeder.  Of course, 4 days later, they tested positive for parvo. So, my partner and I are taking turns sleeping in hour increments so we can monitor the puppies.  Feed them, stick needles in their backs for fluids, and clean up vomit and projectile poop.

We aren't really sure. They are just tiny babies. Just barely 7 weeks old.  A good percentage of puppies this age don't survive.  They are getting great vet care though, and we are giving around the clock care. Luckily, my partner doesn't work, so one of us is with them at all times.

If they can make it the next few days, they might be out of the woods.  They have been sick since Monday, so it's been 5 days already...  usually, if they can survive 7-10 days, they have a good chance of making it.   They are showing signs of improvement, but stiill not willing to eat or drink on their own.  So, they have both lost a lot of weight.  We just have to hope they hit that turning point before they lose so much weight that their organs shut down.

Well, when we rescued them, our plan was to foster them untl they could be spayed and then find them forever home. But, at this point, if they both survive, I don't think we will honestly be able to part with either of them. 

I reported the "breeder" for illegally selling puppies before the legal age, but honestly, in this area, there are thousands of backyard breeders and there just aren't resources to even follow up on most of the complaints, let alone prosecution.

At this point, its just about damage control. I work closely with a rescue in the area, and at this point, its's just about tying to save the puppies.... and trying to convince the guy not to continue using his female as a puppy factory.

its a long story, but the short version is, we ran across the guy was advertising the litter for sale at 5 weeks old on craigslist and ebayclassifieds.  After talking to some rescues about the best approach, we decided to negotiate with him and purchase the females of the litter, just to get them off the breeding cycle.

It wasn't an ideal solution, because purchasing from a backyard breeder encourages backyard breeding. But, we decided it was the best possible solution.  If these two females ended up on the breeding circuit, which was likely, they could have easily produced 50-80 puppies in their lifetime, and then the puppies those puppies would produce. 

So, we bought them, and figured we would keep them for a few months, get them spayed and then rehome at least one of them. But, 3 days later we were cleaning up vomit and puke and giving them subcutaneous fluids.  it's always a risk when you do this for puppies this young...  but, it is what it is.

we actually already have two dogs. A rottweiler and a pittie/dalmation mix. so, now we have FOUR dogs.

yes, we are insane.

I hope the puppies make it :*(    I hate what ppl do to animals, but thankfully there are good hearted people out there to help the poor fur kids.

I also hate the choice of perpetuating a bad cycle vs letting animals suffer. We try to only get hermies from responsible sellers or as rescues, but occasionally we come across a pet store situation so pitiful that it is worth it to buy them and "encourage" a place with bad advice and painted shells than to let the innocent suffer.

That's how we got Hagrid. He was a large, bordering on jumbo, crab stuck in a small painted shell covered in rhinestones that was so busted up his abdomen was exposed. He was in a tank with a bunch of dead crabs and live cricket for food, meaning he had nothing to eat. H was actually the one who insisted we being him one and get him properly shelled and fed. That is horrible!!! I just don't get it. It honestly isn't that hard to properly take care of a pet. I don't know why people can't make a minimal effort!!!

It was a tough choice to buy these little girls. We don't buy dogs. We do rescue all the time and routinely have foster dogs. But I couldn't leave them there. It was pretty clear this guy didn't give a crap where these puppies were going to end up.

So now we have Sancho Diaz our rottie, Hector Baby our pittie/dalmation mix, Lola Marie and Gemma Jacqueline the boxer babies. We also have Justin Baker, our cat who was rescued as a 3 week old feral who we bottle fed.

It's a full house.

FB sounds fun but I feel like I'm crashing the party lol. Maybe more posts from me here first then join the fun late lol. I hope your puppies do ok. It breaks my heart what people do.
