I think my Gmail was just hacked...

I just went to check my Gmail and I had a banner pop up at the top saying that my account just had "unusual activity" and that it was accessed from an IP address in China, and it recommended that I change my password immediately.

I have, but I'm still scared sick.  I checked and it appears it's a new feature gmail has since March, so that part seems OK, but I'm still afraid if they've run off with any other info before I was able to change my password.

Anyone else seen anything like this with gmail?  (unusual activity thing)?

Not my account but I had to warn a cousin that her gmail had been hacked when I started getting spam from her.  She changed to a yahoo account.

  • I actually had a ton of problems with it a week ago, I had to have them close down my account and "restart" it, so that I could have the same e-mail.  It was reply a message to everything that was sent to me and misdirecting me when I clicked links that were sent through e-mail to me.

  • hmmm - same thing just happened to me on Yahoo last week - via Russia!
I changed my password to a more secure one w/ 9 characters and started a new account with Gmail.

  • I had this happen earlier this month.

go to your forwarding settings and check to see if your email is being forwarded, erase that address and check "disavle POP where you can.

They had forwarded all my emails to them, downloaded all my archived emails and erased my contact list.

I'm still trying to get FB back.
