[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Tips for Newbies : I don't see it that way. I remember your sarcasm fails from when I was mainly a lurker. Now every once in a while someone might make a joke about it but I definitely don't think they harp on it.  "They never miss a chance to give someone a hard time about a bad decision they made, regardless of their admission of guilt or not." Is definitely not true. Maybe I just haven't seen it. I'm still new here.  Really? They never miss a chance to give someone a hard time about a mistake they made in the past? Most posters here have made mistakes. They stuck around. No one constantly brings it up. Every time you (Chels) post no one constantly brings up your mistakes.  I don't know. I'm probably reading too much into this and not making any sense.

Haha no worries.  I do see what you mean, and I agree it isn't constant.  I also was reading this with my exaggeration glasses on.  I almost looked at this as a caricature of the E board TBH, which is why I didn't relaly think twice about it.

<div>Yea. I think I should have read it like that. I just don't see the ladies on here as "harping" but they will definitely point out a mistake, which is good. I learned a lot from just lurking. My wedding was probably better because of it. </div>

  • This also isn't the first post like this...
  • Hey I'm a lurker too. Lol. We do exist! (reminds me of th at one commercial with santa) I post very rarely, but I love to read all the crazy stories. Generally I don't lurk on the daily stuff, just "my fils are crazy" type posts. So I would never know anyone's dogs names or anything! Funny thing, my fi lurks on the sports type boards! He never posts ever though!

There's also a huge difference between "an admission of guilt" where you actually feel guilty and want to do something to fix the situation and just prefacing a rude idea with "I know that this is rude, but I am going to do it anyway....tell me the least-rude way to do it."

Scenario A:  "I lost my gift list and I am freaking out because I don't know how to write a personalized note to everyone."  We'll be nice and try to give advice for damage control and the best way to phrase a more generalized TK note.

"I know it's rude to send out generic thank you notes, but FI and I are both grad students and are really, really busy.  Any suggestions for a nice, cute thank you that we can type up and give to each guest on a photo card?"    We're going to give flack like crazy because the poster is essentially saying "I know it's wrong, but fuuck it even though it's not too late to do it right."

I enjoy reading all the crazy stories too. I always want to chime in but I don't feel like I've been around long enough to give people advice.
