Thank You Question

At the end of my recent shower a guest gave me the wedding present she purchased so she wouldn't have to bring it to the wedding. The tissue paper didn't cover it well and so I saw what it was. Should I go ahead and send a thank you card for the wedding gift in addition to the thank you card for the shower gift? Or should I wait until after the wedding?

Re: Thank You Question

  • You can open it now and write the thank you.  You're just not supposed to use it until after the wedding.
  • Thank you notes for wedding gifts are usually sent in advance when it's delviered to you via UPS or something so the giver knows it got to you ok. Since she handed it to you and knows you received it, I'd probably wait until after the wedding.

  • This exactly:

When you recieve wedding gifts before the wedding, you need to open them immediately, make sure they aren't damaged, then write a thank you note.  You should not, however, use it until after the wedding.
