Gratuities

Hi everyone!  My wedding's in about 2 1/2 weeks and I'm not sure who to tip/how much?  Is it a percentage?  Is it my discretion?  I've got: DJ, photographer, bagpiper, wedding consultant at the venue, officiant (mayor-he doesn't accept the gratuity, it goes to the city).  TIA

Re: Gratuities

  • If it's not in the contract, than I would decide that upon their service.  Much like tipping a waiter when you go out to eat, gratuities should be earned - not mandatory.  Tip according to how great of service they provided.  Some guests will even tell you if they particularly enjoyed a service - if the bartender was great or the DJ knew how to rock.

If not contracted, then tip them just like you would a waiter. 20-25% if great. If their late or something else, go down. If they own their own business and the money that your paying goes to them, then its a choice on whether you tip them!
