Marriage Certificate copies

Married ladies: How many did you all get, and how many places KEPT them? I'd hate to have to buy tons of copies and then wind up with them, if the SSA, DMV, etc arent going to keep them.

I just got one, and no place I went kept it (and I have been to the SS office, DMV, etc.)

When you guys say copies, do you mean additional copies seperate from the original? I only got the one certificate and thought I'd just be able to take it with me to SS and DMV. I'm confused.

what you got from the register of deeds was just a certified copy - your actual marriage certificate is kept on file at the register's - you never actually get the original to keep.

Got one. No one kept it. The only reason I can think of that you would need to get more than one is if you are doing name changes by mail and wanted to send out more than one at a time.

I got 2 thinking that I'd have to give one up and would still need another. No office has kept it though and it's not like the marriage certificate is so pretty that it needs to be framed. You only really need one.
