Veil Question

How did you ladies decide what type of veil to get? I haven't been able to try a veil on with my dress so I'm not sure what will look best. I'm pretty sure I want at least an elbow length veil, preferably 2 tiers. I would like some sort of beading around the edges...that's all I know. Any suggestions? (The dress is Maggie Sottero Carrie)

This may not be much help, but I just went with what I wanted at first! I'm sure I would have changed it if it hadn't gone with my dress, but it worked for me!

I tried a few on at the bridal shop when I was picking out dresses. It's one of those things that I think you need to try a couple on before deciding on any details. I ended up with a fingertip length, single layer veil with beading around the edges that looked like a vine. The shorter veil just didn't look right on me & I didn't want one that went down to the ground. My SIL, on the other hand, has a cathedral length veil because she's getting married in a large church with a very long aisle. So she wanted to make a statement & not get lost among the pews.

Since you didn't try one on with your dress, I'd just look at lots of pictures and see what you like best. The veil is something that there isn't always a right or a wrong way to do it, it's just what you prefer. IMO, a fingertip length or cathedral length veil with a simple beaded edge would be gorgeous with your dress! I would just pick the length based on how formal you want it to be and whether you plan to wear it the whole time or take it off after the ceremony. Good luck!

It just depends on what you want - I wore a 2 tier plain cut, fingertip veil with my dress and it was perfect. And...I bought it on ebay for like $16.

Depends on how much you want to show off the dress. The back of that dress has amazing details, so it just depends on if you want to cover that or not. I also agree with the previous posts, cathedral length veils are great for large churches, but a challenge to wrangle. :)My dress has a lot of color and detail on the back that I didn't want to cover up for that "down the isle wow moment". :)Whatever you do, if you go with one, make your own and you can save a ton. Good Luck!  I'm sure whatever you choose will work out great!

I would take your dress with you to pick out your veil...I had always thought I would get something simple like a finger tip veil but after seeing the cathedrial veil with my dress I was sold.
