Mayfair Farms

Has anyone had a wedding at Mayfair Farms? Hows the food? Grounds? Service? Anything? I would love any information, good or bad. I've looked at the manor and liked it (but my mom said she smelled a mildew) and we have an app for Highlawn Pavilion (but heard about the weird shaped room so its making me iffy already). Any info would be really apprecatied!

Make sure you look at the ceiling at Mayfair. We really liked it but then noticed tons of water damage on the ceiling.

I was a guest at a wedding there.  The food was typical.  The Veniese was delish.  The room itself was pretty and the cocktail room was nice but there weren't enough seats.  We were in the upstairs room.

The outside grounds are nice. The inside is dated in my opinion...lots of mirrors on the walls. I also remember the upstairs room being nicer than their downstairs room.

Friends of mine from my old job were married at Mayfair Farms and everyone who went said they had a really nice time and that they enjoyed the food.  As for Highlawn Pavilion, my FI and I went to look there after receiving a recommendation from one of my mom's coworkers. After viewing their menu online and seeing pictures, I was super excited to see the place.  Eagle Rock Reservation is gorgeous, but I thought HP was pretty outdated and in need of renovations.  The view of the skyline is really pretty, but I thought the dance floor looked beat up and we didn't like how everything was in the same oddly shaped room.  The bathrooms and bridal suite are all in the same area as the office which I thought was strange. Also, there isn't a separate entrance for guests, so people eating at the restaurant and wedding guests all come in through the same doors.  We couldn't get a look at the bridal suite b/c it was in use. I'm sure at night  the room looks great, but during the day, I just noticed too many flaws. This is just my opinion though; my mom's coworker had the time of her life at HP for her wedding.  HTH and GL!

I went to a wedding at Mayfair Farms. We were in the downstairs room. The interior was definitely dated (chandeliers, teal wallpaper, mirrored walls etc.) but I know that the couple getting married said they had a great experience there. The service was great, the food was pretty standard, the grounds are lovely and I really liked that we had our own private grounds area. It was a weird day where we kept getting showers on and off so Mayfair had actually tented the outside so guests could still go outside and enjoy the patio seating without getting wet. My friend said they didn't pay extra for that, that Mayfair just does that as a courtesy for your guests. I thought that was pretty neat!

Oh I forgot, If you are planning on a ceremony there, I think you get to choose a place, the wedding we went to had the ceremony right by the parking lot, which I was not a huge fan of.

I am booked at the Highlawn for November but we were very close to booking with Mayfair - we actually went to see it twice. I haven't been to a wedding at Mayfair so the stuff I noticed are based purely on my two visits there. We are expecting around 110 people so we were shown the downstairs ballroom. Our guests would either have to walk in the main entrance and go down the stairs (no elevator since it's an older building) or they could walk around the building and enter through the back. The nice thing about the downstairs ballroom is that you have direct access to the grounds - which would be great for weddings in the Spring/Summer. The upstairs ballroom is beautiful but for a much bigger guest list but the bathrooms were very small. They had three different wedding packages and were very affordable. Good luck!

Also, the downstairs room was not handicap accessible at all, and neither are the bathrooms which have some steps to them. Not sure how important this is to you, but with some older guests they told us the waiters would have to lift them up and carry them to the bathroom.

Thanks for all the responses so far! We're going to see it tomorrow. We're also going to take a look at the Autrium (got that suggestion on here). All this searching is pretty exhausting..I have to admit! Did anyone else feel like that? =/

The Atrium was beautiful if you get the upstairs room.  After the first 5 venues I was tired of it all.  They all tend to look the same after a while.  Just find a place you are happy with and go with it!  Good Luck.

I felt very overwhelmed at first. I'm extremely anal and wanted to see as many locations as possible, which led to a lot of driving around, listening to sales pitches and touring venues. After awhile I started taking pictures of every venue we visited b/c I was starting to get them all mixed up.

Just to hop on the previous posters comment about the Atriums ballroom; you definitely do NOT want the downstairs room. It's not good for a wedding, but moreso a babyshower/ small party, bridal shower type event.

<div>I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the large room with the atrium "goes" with the ceremony space on the side of the building (closer to the parking lot) and the downstairs space goes with the back of the property.  </div><div>
</div><div>I liked Mayfair but wanted an outside ceremony.  When I asked to see Plan B/Rain space, it was immediately off the list.  Since I was really attached to an outdoor ceremony, having it in a windowless room would have crushed me if there was bad weather on our wedding day.</div>

Mayfair Farms was my second place pick, but has a bit of a funky musty smell when you walk in the main entrance.  My mom has been to events there, but not a wedding, and said the food is good.  I also looked at The Manor (my cousin got married there and it was very nice), but it was a little dark for me.  I ended up booking at the Atrium, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three!

Thanks for all the responses guys! I ended up going back to the manor for a second look, and realized that was that place for me! Beautiful indoors and out, best of both worlds! Thanks Again for all the help!! These knot forums are amzing btw..def my new favorite website!
