The Manor featured on NJ Housewives Season 3 Opener

I was just watching the season 3 opener for NJ Housewives and noticed that Teresa's brother had his babies christening at The Manor. I believe it's in the downstairs room. Just thought The Manor girls out there might get a kick out of it :o)

Yeah, that all happened mid-October of last year. FI and I were there that afternoon to make a payment and we saw the film crews getting set up. The banquet managers at The Manor said they'd never again allow the restaurant to be on television like that (and this was BEFORE all the sh*t went down) because it was nothing but craziness from the start.

WOW! If they were saying that then, then they probably were livid by the end of the night lol That was an absolute disaster to watch and they kept flashing The Manor sign over and over again....the folks that work there are probably cringing right now lol

They kept trying to make Theresa's husband the bad guy, meanwhile her brother (and father of the child being christened) was wasted and was the one that started the violence! At least we know where she gets her table flipping tendancies from!

Actually I think the opposite, most people I think would stay away from The Manor after viewing on tv, as The Brownstone!
• edited December 2011

That was insane last night. Her brother and sister-in-law are flat out mean and the brother being so drunk at his baby's celebration is so trashy. I also can't believe how he started SCREAMING at his own elderly father! so crazy!

I love reality TV hahaha

Am I the only one here that thinks its kind of rediculous to have a christening at The Manor? My friend had her son's christening party at her house lol.

FI and I are considering The Manor for our wedding. After last nights show, he does not want to book there because he now associates The Manor with the show...
Not cool! It is one of my front runners!!! UGH!

I thought the same thing until I watched and saw that the family who had the christening at The Manor is in no way, shape or form related to or gets along with the manzos (brownstone) lol...the fist fight kinda gave that away lol

My FI loves that show- I tried to watch it last season but couldn't stomach it after the one woman who is not on there anymore was so terrible to her kids.

<I am not trying to offend here, just stating my opinion />: My FI wanted to look at the Brownstone for our wedding, but I refused due to the show. I didn't want my wedding to be associated with that show, or to be giving those people my money. My FI was shocked that I felt that way! Maybe it is a central jersey (me), north jersey (him) thing. But I guess it probably does get them some business from people who wouldn't be aware of the place otherwise. different strokes for different folks I guess!

I have to agree with this, which is why I don't agree with the posts above that said it was good for publicity. Based on my conversations with the banquet managers and the reputation that The Manor has always had, I'm quite sure they're less than thrilled with the show.

When we were visiting venues, I didnt go to the brownstone bc I didnt want anything affiliated with that show. To be honest, we met with the DJ that did Teresa's house warming party and the second he said that, we were done and out of there. I also decided against marrying at the Basilica in Newark after seeing articles about Teresa's wedding there splashed all over the net. It started to feel like everywhere we went after awhile was somehow connected to the show lol Thank god she didn't have her reception at my venue bc I was bent on the Crystal Plaza lol She was married at Naninas.

When this happened back in October we spoke about it here on The Knot. The Manor actually let out a statement and said that they did not want to be associated with the show, they also said that they did not expect this was going to happen, and just booked a party for a customer.

Doesn't the show have to get approval to film on private property though?

The did but The Manor said that they never once imagined what would occur. Actually because of this the owner wrote that he will never allow another show to be film in his establishment, and I know this to be true because my friend was chosen for four weddings and they did not allow it.

That is really hard to believe. I'm sure they had seen the show and knew exactly what might (and probably would) happen. When have they had an event at a place where there wasn't a fight or drama? I really think the owners were hoping it would give them some good publicity, which unfortunately isn't going to happen.
Hasn't the show filmed at Il Villaggio in the past too? (Or was it somewhere else?)

As for Four Weddings, I can understand venues turning down that show - not because they don't want filming done there - but because the show is specifically designed to critique the venue and the food. So if the brides are saying the food was awful, then that is bad publicity for the venue. Why would any venue want to risk that?
• edited December 2011
Ahhhh!!! Four Weddings gets under my skin! I know Im getting off topic here lol but I hate how rude some of the women on that show are! I like watching it to get ideas and see what NJ venues they feature, but that's about it. The only good thing that came out of that show for me was that we found our venue by watching it lol
