Did you tip bartenders/valet?

If so, how much? Does the maitre'd tip cover this?

your payment to the venue typically pays these people, but they should also be tipped, and not by your guests if at all possible.  i just had the best man give the bartender $50 as a "thanks for not pouring light" gesture in the beginning of the night.  we didn't have valet, but i'd assume the same.

i'd ask your venue if the maitre'd tip covers it. in our case, it DID take care of the bartenders, but NOT the valet guys. so we tipped the valets $100. we had 2 of them, so we figured that was $50 each plus whatever tips they may have gotten throughout the night

I would ask your contact at the venue. It varies. All of our tips were included in the service charge, and we were not allowed to tip extra (employees were strictly forbidden from accepting tips on the side-- like, even the valet guys when we would visit the venue). You also may want to talk to the venue about bartenders and valets accepting tips from guests and/or soliciting tips from guests (by having tip jars or dollars on the bar or whatever). If that would bother you, you may want to nip it in the bud ahead of time.

I never even thought of the valet guys. I know whenever I go to the wedding I give the valet a few bucks, so I'm sure most of my guests did the same.

I wouldn't tip valet either as Tiff said if I go somewhere, wedding or not, I always tip valet and will assume that almost all of my guest will as well; not to mention 75 of my guests are taking the shuttle to the venue and won't even utilize the valet so I'm not tipping them Bartenders, I assume, will get random tips from guests throughout the night - I certainly wouldn't want a tip jar but I know that I tip a bartender at a wedding, so why wouldn't others...IMO I'm shelling out enough friggin tips, service charges, etc. to the venue that I'm not trying to add on to that...
