as long as its on your registry you can return it and get cash back!! woo hoo!
  • edited December 2011
Yea, I had no problem returning a few things without a gift receipt.

Same here- no problem at all. You get cash back for items on your registry and store credit for items that aren't.

Awesome.  Do I need to bring the registry with me or do they look it up? I feel so bad bringing things back but there are other things we'd rather have
  • edited December 2011
nope they can look it up - just need ur license...i returned alot  but we needed other things vs something for our house that we wont have for another year or 2...

Have you done the cash thing recently?  When I did it a couple of months ago they said they were not doing that anymore and would only give a credit. They will just look your registry up for you.

I didn't have my registy info but they asked for my drivers license. I guess all you need is a valid ID.

every BBB is different.. some will give you back cash if the item was on your registy and others will only give you store credit.

I have had many people say the store in Parsippany mainly only gives store credit..
  • edited December 2011
sometimes i even say to them - that i want cash back - so if you see them start to get a card out or just to confirm - tell them you want cash back!

You get a refund in whatever form they paid. So if they used a credit card, you get a BB&B gift card. If they used cash, you get cash.

Try the one in Paramus- I've gotten cash back every time =)

If you don't have a receipt (or not on registry) how does BBB know if it was paid by cash or credit?

how about if someone buys you something not on your registry, but it now appears on your registry? (like, wants 0 fulfilled 1)we got a couple of things we didn't register for, but now appear there....

That's most likely due to them buying things for themself at the same time they purchased their shower gift.  When they scan the registry, it puts everything they bought on there.  They would have had to do two seperate purchase transactions for it not to show up on your registry. Most people don't think of this.

Dmoney: I had this as well. When they (the guest) wants to add something to your registry that they think you will want... They have it added on to your registry anyway just in case you want to return.

I have done the adding thing to registries I've purchased from. Like for example, I wanted to spend a certain amount of money but I couldn't find anything for that exact amount. Once I bought someone a keurig coffee maker from their registry and then added coffee pods to it so the price would be what I preferred to spend. I figure they would need the pods to use the coffee maker, or they could just return it and get something else they did want. I could probably have purchased a spatula or something else random to make up the price, but it would look odd coming together with the coffee pot. This happens to me a lot, where there is nothing for the exact amount I want, I don't want to spend less, and the ones that are more expensive are much more expensive.

yeah we actually received the items that were purchased but not originally on our registry (altho, this happened at christmas, my mom bought us some little things as stocking stuffers, and then purchased a cookie cutter and something else for her, and i was like, wtf? but i deleted those after the fact when i saw the gingerbread man cookies on christmas day, i figured it out....) a couple of them were similar items to what we wanted, but just a little different, so we just want to exchange them, but i was just curious if we didn't have the gift reciept for them, could we also get cash back since it wasn't something we originally registered for.....

I just returned something at BBB and they wanted to give me store credit.  I asked if I could get cash instead and they gave it to me.  If they say they are going to give you store credit, ask for cash it doesn't hurt.

I wanted to share my expierence with everyone I went to BBB in parsippany. I told the lady that these things were bought on my registry and I wanted to return them for cash. She returned them and gave me cash. I dont know how they would ever know what form of pymnt the person used they just use your registry to make sure it was on it. HTH someone! Thanks for all the feedback
