VENT: BRIDALS BY ROMA

My dress came in and I was going to try it on and get it fitted.  Well first they made me pay for the remaining without trying it on and barely being able to see it.  Then when I ordered the dress they told me I needed a size 8 and they never measured me.  Well guess what I can barely zip it up!!! I almost passed out from anxiety.  Then the biotch goes oh well you will lose a couple pounds and it will fit.  My mom and me are like this is my rib cage there is no more fat.  I am usually a size 2 or 4.  And the sales lady comes in and says don't worry you will lose weight.  All they did was tell me to lose weight and I was like are you F**ken kidding me!! So now they have to let my 5k dress out so it can zip.  Vent over.  I am so upset I start to cry when I talk about it.

That's terrible!! I am so sorry to hear that they treated you this way. How did they give you your dress without even measuring you?? That just doesn't make sense. I hope it all works out for you!

I'm sorry you're going through this, but why would you let them order the dress without measuring you?!?  Is the dress that came in a size 8? Is that what it says on your receipt?

I'm sorry to hear that. They ordered the wrong size for me too. I should have insisted they measure me. Anywho, hang in there because I do trust that they will make your gown fit beautifully. If you are really worried, try to expedite the alterations though so that you can feel at ease sooner. If they don't get it right the first time, make them expedite a new gown. Is that possible? Just don't stress yourself so much. I hope it works out well for you.

I tried on a 10 and they had to pin it because it was falling off they said that size 8 would be perfect.  I guess that 10 was stretched from ppl trying it on.

That's horrible and no way should they be telling someone to lose weight.  I'm so sorry to hear that because I had such a good experience with them. That seems strange the 10 would be falling off of you but the 8 would be way too tight.  Did you double-check that it was an 8 and not a 6 that came in?

I am so sorry! I think you need to go back and speak to them about what the plan is--especially if you have no weight to lose!Did you check the size on the label to be sure it's an 8? If you're a size 2/4, I can't see how an 8 wouldn't fit you unless one area is really unproportional.

When my cousin got married we went there to look at BM dresses (I know, totally different "store"). And there was another BP there trying on their dresses and I guess one didn't fit because the sales woman was screaming at her that she must have gained weight because they ordered the right size and she was calling the BM all these fat names.

Calling her "fat names"?! Screaming at her?! And people still go there?! I have to say, if I got wind that a BM of mine was treated like that - or if I was treated like that, I'd be demanding the immediate firing of that employee.

WOW- I am so sorry to hear! I would have definitely let them measure me though, before having them order my dress. But I have to say, coming from that store, I'm not surprised at all. They have such a reputation about being snotty and stuck up to their customers. After hearing this story, I have no clue why people still go there and give those people business....

As PPs said, why would you let them order you a dress without measuring?  not that you can do anything about that now...hindsight never helped anyone.  I am sure it will work out...they have really good seamstresses there so take a deep breath and don't eat salty foods so you don't retain any water.I had a similar problem with a bridesmaid dress from park ave bridal.  They needed to take it in a tiny smidge on the bust area.  I went back barely a week later and it would not even zip because they took it in so much.  The woman then proceeded to tell me I must have gotten fat.  I ordered my dress at Bridals by Roma and was between sizes...I of course wanted the smaller size because "I am going to lose weight" but they insisted the larger one just in case.  Well, it is months later, my dress just came in, and I have not lost a single pound. They were clearly right.I guess it all depends on what salesperson you get?  although as PPs suggested, it does seem weird that if you are normally a size 2 or 4 that an 8 would not fit, esp if the 10 needed to be pinned....
