caramba!!!

just found out that daughters rehearsal has to be on new year's eve, thursday.  since new year's day is a holy day in the catholic church they won't be allowed to have it then.  wedding is on that saturday jan 2.any suggestions for a place for rehearsal dinner in or near bloomfield for approx 30 people?  kinda of a pub type comfortable relaxed atmosphere.  she's thinking egan's...don't know where that is.

Egans is in Montclair not far from Bloomfield and very nice. I never ate there but I heard it is good. I believe it is on Walnut Street

How about The Bloomfield Steakhouse or the Bloomfield Pub. Both are casual with good food.

i'll definitely check out the steakhouse and bloomfield pub. has anyone heard of fitzgerald's near sacred heart church?  i'm not sure if i found the right one on line...the one on the internet looks nice but says it is in glen ridge(?).  i thought there was a fitzgerald's right around the corner fromt he church (i've never been and an not familiar with the area).

k that's right, now i recall my daughter telling me eagan's was in montclair...she seems to like the place but the reviews say it's really loud and food is expensive and not good...i get the impression that it's kind of a singles type place; probably not what we need.

Try the Town Pub. Or there's always the infamous Holsten's. I actually like their food!

Would you consider doing it on Wednesday? Places are prob going to be more packed on NYE and the bridal party members might want to make other plans for the night.

What about having it at someone's house so it's a New Years Eve party/rehearsal dinner?  I think you'll have trouble finding a place willing to do that on New Years Eve.

i mentioned changing the rehearsal date to my daughter and it didn't go over too big.  it's kind of confusing, we have immediate family coming from sussex county, nj near phila, and member of the wedding party from long island, ny...ugggh.  no matter how i throw this around in my head it just will be soooo inconvenient for people.  the fact is that most people will be working (although most get off a little early on nye) and then get to look forward to making a huge drive.  maybe i'm totally overreacting (i hope so).daughter sees this as an opportunity to make lemonade out of the lemon...and have a bachelor/ette celebration/nye/and rehearsal all wrapped up...gee, i hope she's right!  to make matters worse...dd thinks she has all the time in the world (momzilla, much?).
