Nees a house surveyor

Anyone have any recs? The surveyor my attorney recs said it will be $1200 to survey our house (including the stakes) I think thats an insane amount. I would like to call around and see what others are costing. The house is in Passaic County; bordering Bergen, so anyone in that area would be great.

    NM, I was told this was average. lol. Buying a house is expensive!

    Why do you need a surveyor? We didn't need one and we close on the 30th of Sep. Did you lock your rates yet?

    I used to work for a title insurance company, we used DP Sweeney & Associates. I want to say the surveys were usually around $600, and $100 for each stake. Their number is 201-438-6363, if you happen to get Gary or Don, tell them Natalie from Glen Eagle recommended you, it might get you a discount :)

    Our bank arranged it and it was including in the mortage application fees.  See if this holds true for you.

    Thank youMrs: Yes, we def need a surveyor for the house. Also putting in stakes since we want to have a fence put in. Our attorney is taking care of it, but the price seemed high to me, so thats why I was asking.
