Has anyone ever made their own wedding album instead of getting one done?

yes, i am not having one done for me.  i know enough about photoshop, etc. that i can whip up something nice on my own.  i would only outsource for special print jobs.

Thanks. I just emailed a few photographers to see what they say.

I'm assuming most photographers will tell you to get a professional album done as that's where they make their money.

Most photographers will tell you that only they can do an amazing job.  I originally had it included in my package but just switched it for something else since the album I wanted was going to be a whole lot more money. I'll take my chances with mypublisher or mpix and then I can also use photos from friends as well who got great shots.

Make sure to ask if you're getting all the pics on CD after the wedding and that you have the rights to reprint them.

You can do it if you have the DVD with the full resolution images AND if the photographer allows you to make prints of the pictures. Legally, the images belong to the photographer. From what I have researched on the internet, if you made an album with the copyrighted pictures without the photographer's consent, you could be prosecuted. You could pay way more money in damages than the album would have cost.  If you want to make your own album, make sure the photographer you choose will allow you to.

Yup... i used the mpix software and it was so easy.  I have offered to make them for a few friends cause I enjoyed doing it so much but no one has taken up my offer yet.  LOL
