I didn't want to hijack the tip post, but somethings not right with your answer lol, Amy told me that the 20% is not tip.  Here exact words. (sorry so crappy) now I am REALLY CONFUSED.The 20% added to your banquet check is a hotel service charge.  It is not distributed to our staff as a gratuity, as it covers the hourly wages and labor involved with executing your event. Tipping is discretionary.  Customarily, you would tip your maître $1.00-$1.50 per guest. Valet would be tipped by any guests that uses their services for parking; however if you felt they did a great job you are welcome to tip them as well... Your servers can also be tipped if you feel that they did a great job. Once we have your final count, I can tell you how many servers and bartenders will be assigned to your celebration.   I will ask our service manager if there is a rule of thumb for them as well.

She is the banquet manager and she needs to ask the service manager if there is a "rule of thumb"? Shouldnt she know this???Val told me not to worry about tipping the servers... she said they get paid very well and that anything above and beyond was discretionary. She told me her and Amy usually do not get tipped and the only one who should be tipped was teh Maitre'd and she wouldnt even give me a ballpark, just that it was at my discretion.  My dad did wind up tipping everyone in sight just because he was king shiit that night...

PS... why does she always have to "ask somebody"? Cant she ever just know the answer?

Grrr I so do not want Amy there...she never has an answer ever this is the issue since she started that made me go in there and flip I've been dealing with her half_assed_bull for too long, I also never got an answer to that, never to the signature drinks, never to availability for rehearsal and she was suppose to call me back for an appt Shoot can I get in trouble for the above? Haha augh
