North Carolina

Hello from CT!

Well, after 21 hours of straight driving, we (FI and I) FINALLY got to CT. We were stuck in the northeaster for 90% of the time. Trip typically takes 11 hours to get here. . . plus side was that we beat it to NY and didnt have to drive through there in the mess. We got 10 inches at FI parents house last night :)

Boards are slow, but Im assuming its because of the holidays.

I hope everyone has been having a great weekend and those who were having weddings, I hope everything went over smoothly and wonderful for you guys! :)

Now. . Im off to play in the snow again :)

Ick! Im so sorry. We made it out of there just in time. I know a few others that weren't too far behind us and they're still stuck.

There was a HUGE back up we saw going through Richmond. Some tractor trailors were blocking the highway because they couldn't make it up the hill. The back up was for miles and miles. Sadly it was going in the direction you're headed. Hopefully all cars will be moved off the roads by then. :)

Welcome to CT! Did you guys just move up here? Where in CT? We live in New Haven. And did you make that drive with a moving truck? Not fun. We know it well. We should be driving back to NC in just a few days. I do hope this is all over with by then. And where did you get stuck to make the trip 21 hours instead of 11 if you made it to NY with no troubles? Just curious where the nightmare happened.

No , we're just up visiting FI's family for Christmas. We're in Coventry. I LOVE it here  . . maybe one day we'll make the move, but FI is with his job for at least another 5 years.  We initally got into the store in VA. Once we were in Richmond, thats where pretty much everything went down hill. We left Raleigh at 8pm and didnt make it to DC until 6am. Traffic was literally moving 10mph. . sometimes 20 when things calmed for a few moments. The whole trip was rough due to the amount of time, but it got a little easier when we were almost out of Jersey.

I saw a good handful of people moving. I remember making the comment that I would never ever ever want to be caught in this kind of storm in a moving van. I felt really bad for those guys

Ugh, I'm sorry you had to drive though that! My godmother was coming down on Friday from PA for my engagement party. I told her about the forecast but she was determined and we both thought she would beat the worst of it. Unfortunately she got stuck in Roanoke for the whole weekend because they closed all the major roads going South! It was so crazy, and I felt so bad that she came all that way for me and not only missed the party but had to pay for a hotel for two nights. Fortunately she's now with her family in Greensboro for the holidays.

    Stupid snow!
