Can father/daughter & mother/son dances take place at same time?

We were just wondering if anyone has seen this done. Thought it might be nice to have all 4 of them out on the dance floor at once. My daughter can be shy & having her brand new husband out there, too, might help her relax a bit.

Sure. I'd just check with the groom and his mom first ... some parents might want the "spotlight" with their kid for those two or three minutes.

We did ours together. We arent huge center of attention people and just wanted to get it over with. I made sure it was ok with my Dad first though. I wouldnt want to take away a special moment for him.

I've seen this. The couples danced to "My Wish" by Rascall Flatts. It was cute. But like pp said - I'd be sure the other parent doesn't want the "spotlight."

agree w/ pp - sure as long as both parties are OK w/ it...

I was in a wedding that did this. Both families dance together. (Bride and father, Groom and mother and brother and mother of bride)They wanted to share the moment with both families together. And the switched "partners" throughout the song

Wow, I've never heard of or seen this but its a great idea. Ditto pp just check with parental units to make sure they're cool with it. I know my father and his AW of a mother will want their own dance.

yes... we had a very complicated parental situation between divorces and deceased, so we didn't do traditional parent dances. Instead, I danced with my step father at the same time MH danced with my mother to "Thank You" by Natalie Merchant, it was sweet.

I have never seen it but I think its a good idea, I'm actually now considering talking to my mom (who I'm dancing with) and having FI talk to his mom.  I can't imagine dancing with my mom for 4 minutes LOL.

I have seen it done. From where I was seated though, the bride and her dad was blocking the groom and his mom and the groom was my cousin so I didn't get to see him dance. :-(

It sounded like a good idea to me, but my daughter has opted not to do it. She wants her dad to have his own moment in the limelight. Plus she wants to dance to a Beatles song with him because when she was a little girl she remembers hearing Beatles music so much of the time. So they are dancing to "I Will" and the groom will dance to "Wonderful World" with his mom. But I appreciate everyone's feedback here - I really think it could have worked out quite nicely.
