For those that gave parents albums as gifts...

Did you present anything else to your parents if you had a rehearsal dinner?  We want to give each set of parents a parent album as thier gifts, but since they obviously won't be ready until well after the wedding, I feel like I want to give something else, without going too overboard, it would be a lot to give them that and another big gift.  I'm 9 days out so it's too late to order embroidered hankies like I originally wanted to do (but forgot).  How did you present your gift, did you just tell them in private they were getting the albums as gifts or put a little note or picture of a sample album to present to them at the RD?  It would seem too self-congratulatory to make an announcement, but it also seems crappy_to just give them a little gift.  Would a note be OK, or is that cheesy?

I have not done it yet...but def getting them something other than the parent albums.  Not sure what yet...probably a gift card to a nice restaurants for FI's parents and something more expensive for my parents since they are paying for the wedding.

A restaurant GC would work...although my dad is super picky and doesn't wind up liking most places.  He's one of those guys who you can't buy anything for.  He's tricky.

I think you'd be good with putting a note in a thank you card to them.

I'm glad you said that erika. I've been thinking the same thing about giving gifts to our parents at the RD and felt like a bad child.

We also didn't give our parents gifts at the rehearsal dinner... we gave them their thank you notes and gifts after the wedding. I actually don't think I've been at a rehearsal dinner where the parents got gifts.

Our parents are getting albums but I never even though of giving them a gift at the RD, so I'm with Erika, Uppereast and Seabass (I did feel like a bad child too after theknot!)

I never really heard of it either before the Knot, but I know the BP gets their gifts at the RD, so it follows that the parents would too.  I guess they'd really be better as Christmas gifts, since they'd be ready at about that time.  Thanks girls!

We also didn't give our parent's gifts at the wedding, but did get them a little something from our honeymoon to go with the parent albums. My friend did give parent gifts at her rehearsal dinner - so I've seen it off the knot too, but I don't think it's mandatory.  If you feel like you can't got in empty handed, an easy gift is a framed photo from your engagement session which goes with the photo theme.  Or just an empty picture frame in general for a future wedding photo...
