parents & step parents

i'm having difficulty balancing these things....not so much because they don't get along (they get along fine) but everything has to be even amongst them. if one is being escorted down the aisle, the other has to be, if one is doing a reading, the other has to, etc....and now i am having trouble figuring out what to say on the programs and also for the introductions at the reception. i hate the term step-parent, i feel like it has a negative connotation to it, like from cinderella or something, but i also think that saying they are the wife/husband of the father/mother of the bride or something along those lines is also downgrading them, cause they are more than just spouses of my parents. anyone have any suggestions?

I also did that for intros.As for walking down the aisle...my stepfather escorted my mother, then we had my dad's mom and stepmom walk together down the aisle.  My dad walked me down the aisle.I actually listed them all on our invitation as well.  Believe me, I was worried about all of this too, and it all worked out fine.

i get along fine with my step mother but she didnt walk down the aisle during the processional since my dad walked me down and i didnt have her in the program. I only had Father of the Bride/groom, Mother of the bride/groom, GP of the bride/groom.but i guess it was a little easier since it was just one step parent and no one else to compare to
