That's plenty of time.  When we got ours they took about two months to come.

FI is still waiting on his. I think it took about a month or two to apply and get it back ... but the downside was that they got his birthday wrong so he had to send it back to be corrected. They also gave him some flack about the photos he got, (the first time he tried to apply for it) so he went back to get them re-taken. I think you have time, but I would try and get it done quickly so that you have some buffer time in case of mistakes. Just figured I'd share his experience with you. (I got my passport several years ago and it was a snap, however.)And if you were born in Hudson County, don't forget that you need a new birth certificate from Trenton, if you don't have it already.

I'd def say the sooner the better to go get it. FI had to actually make an appt at the Post Office to bring his paper work in to submit it. His came back really fast though, I'd say within a month! (we were shocked)But all the websites say it can take much longer and I have heard stories from people of it taking a while. Guess it depends how backed up they are.

DH got his first and i got a renewal/name change back in may.  it took just about 4 weeks from when we submit the application and we did not do a rush order.

I did a rush on mine when I did my name change (had HM booked under married name, needed to get it back before we left) and I had it back in 4 business days.  It costs more money, but is nice to for peace of mind to know that is an option.
