Hotel Block and Party Rules?

Hi all,We are ready to sign a contract for a hotel block.  I just wanted to check to see if this is the "norm" in a hotel block for a wedding.  At more than one point in the contract, it is emphasized that there can be no parties in rooms and no more than 4 people in a room.  It also emphasizes that no outside liquor can be bought it.  Obviously, we aren't planning to go crazy as we would like to use the hotel bar as a spot for an after party.  Still, we know people will probably come back to our suite for more.  Should we be concerned with these points in our contract or is this the norm?  The hotel is the Westin in Morristown.  TIA

our contract had similar verbage~ it didn't matter. we partied in the lobby and then had room parties. no complaints.

we had our own liquor that we drank outside and we had about 25-30 people outside partying until about 4 am and no one said anything to us

I think that's typical verbage.  Just be aware that a "block" typically isn't a strip of rooms all in one area. Most blocks we've booked a room in are spread out across the hotel. So your guests and you should try and be considerate of other hotel patrons.  We've definitely had complaints and had security at our rooms many times! lol

I think as long as you are not throwing "rock star let's break sh*t" type of parties, you are fine.  They just don't want your disturbing other guests and ruining things.as for the rule of 4 to a room, most hotels have a limit to how many people are "officially" allowed to stay in a room. That's normal.

Thanks for the quick replies.  Definitely feel better- I think we might upgrade to a larger suite to accomdate the fact that they wont let us party in the lobby.  Another quick question- do you find that people will typically party beyond 2am?  Just wondering if it would be worth it to splurge on a presidential suite or just keep the free junior suite?  TIA

it depends on the crowd. dh, myself and about 10 firends were up until 5am and we were in a regualr room. i honestly think it is a waste t orent a suite.

Ok, thanks.  My fiance is not one to stay up anyways and I think I'm just worrying to much about others!

I *think* the no more than 4 people in a room is referring to the number of people actually staying/sleeping in the room. Like they don't want 1 person to book the room and then split that room rate between 6 people. You should be fine having people come back to your suit to drink, plus people do it all the time while they're getting ready.

ah good to know Jen!  I hope they put some us together, but maybe not all. haha. keep the older crowd at one end and the younger at the other! lol We already have 20 rooms booked and I'm expecting probably closer to 30/35 at least.

I feel the same way about the rooms being near each other...Keep the sleepers on one side and the others near us!

FI and I are NOT hosting the party in our room. One of our gracious GM/BM will be doing that. We will chip in a little so they can have a bigger room but that way we don't have to host people all night and if we want to go to bed we can!

I was concerned about that also, my block is at the Westin, but I found it was pretty standard. Also, I had a free night so I stayed there on Friday just to get away for a night and the hotel was so nice, service was great, we ate at copeland and the food was amazing!
