"& guest" questions

If we're inviting someone who is single with a guest, should I ask if they are planning to bring someone and who it is? I have a feeling the person is going to say they have no idea yet and to just put "& guest"And he doesn't know the name of who he would ask yet, would the inner envelope then say "XX and guest"?

I just put "& Guest" and when the people responded most of them put their guests name on the RSVP.

I just put "& guest". So far any RSVP's I have gotten back they wrote the guest name in. Not that I need it but hey whatever.

Do you put the guests name on the card?? I assumed it was Mr. Bob McCrakin & Guest????

definitely don't need it for the escort card. "& guest" works just fine there too. That's what I plan on doing if I don't know who the guest is.

You don't have to, but that's why they're giving you the name. =)

yes, I understand that...but I wouldn't go out of my way calling people to ask them their guests name. If they fill it in then use it, if they just put their name with 2 total attending, jsut put the "& guest".

I put "& guest" on the invites and if I didn't get the guest's name back on the RSVP, I made sure to get the name of the guest for the escort card.  I think it's more personal to write the guest's name on the card.  HTH

If they have no idea and guest is fine. If the person knew who there guest was I did ask for the spelling of their name to put on the invite or the seating chart.

I went out of my way to find out who the "& guest" was so that I could include their name on the escort card.  I'd put & guest on the inner envelope and wait until he knows who he's bringing.

I casually asked some of my single friends who they would bring and they had no clue who they were gonna bring so they're getting 'and guested'

I put "and Guest" on the invitation. On some of the response cards, the guest (our guest, the person we knew) put their guest's name. On some, they didn't. For those who did, they got their name and their guest's name on the seating chart, for those who didn't, it was their name followed by "and Guest".
