Photographers -Val Solo or Josh Lynn??

I have met with three so far and have two more appointments next week. My favorite is way out of our budget and the other two just dont seem like the perfect fit for us. Joseph Lin is still in the running so to speak but something just didnt feel right when we met with him. Our next appts are with Val Solo and Josh Lynn. I have a few more that I am looking at but has anyone worked with Val or Josh? Have any input?This whole photographer thing is harder than picking my venue. TIA

You're right that picking a photographer is hard.Josh and Val have very different styles-- Josh is more photojournalistic while Val is very traditional.  Do you prefer one style over the other?I've read good things about Josh (he's very popular here), but not as much about Val (haven't read much at all about him because few girls here have used him)

I have an appointment with Val Solo next week also. They sent me an email for a great deal on a photography and videography package. Josh Lynn is a bit more expensive from what I believe. FI and I are paying for everything on our own so we are extremely budget conscious.

Sorry I have no info on Val Solo or Josh Lynn but I hear you picking a photog seemed harder than picking the venue.

Uppereast-looking for someone who can do the formals well and still get great photojournalistic style candids through out the day. BTW I love the kitten pics Denise-We are meeting with him for the same reason. We figured we should check out at least one photographer with a great deal Generally I like Josh's pictures better but I feel at a loss in this whole process. what is on that infamous spreadsheet? Something I should be looking at?

I used Josh for my wedding and have nothing but wonderful things to say about him! We met with a few other photographers where, while we liked their work, we just didn't feel comfortable with them. The minute DH and I met Josh, we knew he was the one! He's got a laid back persona which i liked, but he was very efficiant on the day without being intrusive. He had a slideshow going on in the corner of our reception room which alot of my guests thought was really cool! I'm very happy with our pics and he had a quick turnaround getting everything to me! He is a little on the pricey side, but MH and i said we were willing to spend more on photography because after the wedding, that's really all you have left from that day! He was worth every penny

jess_and_paul- We meet with him next thursday and he sounded great on the phone. Did he do your e-pics as well? and was he willing to create a package specific to what you want?I have spoken with a few photographers that are very rigid with their packagaes and if you dont want a pre-created thing everything is ala carte and the price skyrockets!

I booked Val for my wedding (in 3 weeks!!) so I haven't worked with him on the wedding day yet but we did engagement shoots with him and were very pleased with the result. He also put both FI and I at ease and we felt very comfortable with him, not to mention that he is very affordable and fit within our budget. Good luck!

I was hoping to see Jess weigh in here....I have seen Jess's pictures, and each one is better then the last.  His work is amazing, and the slide show he had going on in the corner was great!  I wish I could have him for our wedding, but he was booked on our day.

Yes, he did our e-pics as well. We booked him about 2 years ago (my wedding was last September, so i'm an old Knottie)... he had 3 packages at the time (not sure what he's offering now). We got the middle package, but he seemed very willing to swap out things for different prices even though we didn't do that. The only thing you were obligated to do was his day-of pricing (which was $3000 the last time i looked... prob more now). Not sure if that's changed. I'm his friend on Facebook and it seems like he's still really high in demand, so if you like him, book him early!

Thanks Jess. He still has 3 packages and some ala carte stuff listed with each of them so I was not sure how he handled that sort of thing. We meet with him on Thursday so I have my fingers crossed. This is my last big vendor thing other than my dress to figure out.

I'm using Josh Lynn. Our engagement pictures came out great and he is a lot of fun to work with. He had our engagement photo teasers up by the next morning. I just went to a wedding a few weeks ago where he was the photographer and he was great and the pictures look great too!
