Vendor Review: Papyrus - Bridgewater location

I’m sure Brad will be happy to know that if I was grading vendors I would give Papyrus a D. While I’m actually very happy with the way my invitations came out, Papyrus’ execution, customer service and knowledge of their products are seriously lacking. I would not use this vendor again. Overall it was not an enjoyable experience and a lot more time and energy went into these invitations than I had wanted. I don’t want to say that I was deceived or purposefully misled but I was not given accurate guidance/information from the woman I was working with and I think I paid way too much for a very simple invitation (which is ultimately my fault, not blaming Papyrus for that and at the end of the day cost is not what I’m annoyed about). However, if I had known certain things up front (i.e. that they do not offer thermography on the particular invitation I picked and if I had been given an accurate price estimate upfront) I probably would not have gone with this particular invitation and would have DIY my invitations. Highlights: When inquiring about the cost of invitations I was quoted $500. The actual price of my invitations was over $1100. It was an extremely manual process to place the order and enter addresses onto their website. I was told and placed the order to have my invitations printed in thermography. After the order had been placed and a deposit was left I was told that the invitations I ordered were NOT available in thermography. It should have taken 2 days to get a proof, but I had to wait over a week to get one which ultimately delayed the production time of my invitations. My invitations arrived incomplete and I had to wait another week to get the rest of my order.

Maybe you should write a letter to their corp. office? I would think that a more upscale retailer would take this seriously and you would get some sort of "make good" or credit with them.

what good would a credit do her?  how often is she going to need invitations that are that expensive?

Wow Steph - so sorry you had to deal with this. I used papyrus too but in Short Hills and the women that worked with us was very helpful and even told us that we would have to assemble our invitations. I also only ordered the invitations there we did the addressing and everything else. I agree can you write corporate and see what they can do for you?

Actually I was originally planning on ordering our programs, menus and place cards through them but I have no intentions of ordering anything else from them whether it's free or not. But I will most likely write a letter letting them know that this was not the type of service I was expecting from them.

I'll add that I'm pretty sure that this is specific to the Bridgewater location and has more to do with the people actually working in the store than Papyrus as a chain.

I friend of mine had a similar situation in Short Hills so I think it just depends on who you wind up working with. She was able to get her place cards/menu cards and addressing done for free in exchange for their multiple screwups on her invites. She was told the addresses would be printed directly on the envelopes (which were boxes) and when she recieved them they came with small cards for her to attach to the boxes. When she complained they gave her larger cards and told her to put the small ones onthe large ones and the large ones on the envelopes. She brought them to the store complained to the manager. They put the invites together and like I said, gave her a credit for programs, place cards and I think menu cards.

She can use the credit for other things in the store - cards, stationary etc.

I would totally pitch a fit to their corporate office-- and if that doesn't help at first, to the CEO.  You could get a refund, or at the very least a credit that you could use towards wrapping paper and cards and such.  That sucks.
