DJ Danny C (pricing)

Anyone have an idea of what he charges? They are sending me an info packet but said that they only do price quotes in person, once you determine what you want. We just want someone to play music and make minimal announcements - no lights, giveaways, group dances, etc. Just wanted an idea of pricing before I meet with him, so I'm not shocked. TIA.

Wow, pricey. My DJ behaved exactly the way mbc wants, with two setups (one for ceremony, one for cocktail hour/reception), and I think he charges about $1200 for a wedding of over 100 people.

We met with him last year, pricing was (I think) 1650 for DJ & lighting. Danny seemed like a really great guy, but he did not seem like the kind of guy to sit back and just play music all night. I think he gets involved with the crowd a lot, which isn't what we wanted. We booked with Elite Sound Entertainment, just for that reason. They don't get involved, they let the music get everyone on the dance floor. Plus they're against group dances, they say they'll do them if we really want them, but they don't prefer to.

Yeah, Anthony (www.goodtimesdjnyc.com) was great about our veto of any of those dances. The only "group" dance we had was the hora. And he only announced what we asked him to - cake cutting, toasts, that's pretty much it. The rest was just music, without all the cheesy crap. He kept everyone dancing, didn't stray from our musical tastes and preferences, and didn't come off like a bad lounge act.

Cool, thanks for the info. And also for the recommendations (because I don't think we're willing to spend so much on a DJ).

mbcdefg, for what you're looking for you may want to look at Aria Melody and A Starry Night.  They specialize in minimal announcements, no cheesiness etc.  I know little about Danny C, but I do have several friends who have asked their traditional emcees/DJs to keep announcements and such to a minimum, and many of them have had limited success.  (I say this because of the comment above that Danny C likes to work the crowd)

Awesome, thank you for the additional recommendations! :)Uppereast, if you'd like you can shorten my name to MB or mbc. No big deal, just letting you know I'll respond to either.

I'm also using Rob from Colorblind.  Although he offers lights and giveaways its your choice if you want them.  I've seen him at friends weddings and he's great.
