make up trial :(

I had my make up trial today and i kinda seriously hate how it looks. I am blond with fair skin and light blue eyes. she has my eyes as dark browns with basic foundation on my face with a little lip gloss. i feel like it looks really dark and really flat. i dont want to look like a drag queen, but i want to haev a little sparkle. she was rec. to me by my hair stylist who i love. she was very nice. i jsut dont liek how this looks. should i try and find someone else or should i tell her that once i got out side i thought it looked really dark and could she do something lighter and more pink-ish? the other problem is that i dont live in the area- im staying at my parents house until my husband gets home from deployment and im not sure when he is getting home to find someone else or do a second trial. i have my hair trial tomorrow and i dont know what to say to my hair stylist thank you for your help

I would express your concerns and see if she thinks she can do it lighter. Do you have pics? we'll be honest!

I actually really like the colors on you. I personally would go heavier on the eyes, both in shadow and liner. But I like a dark eye. I don't think it's as bad as you made it sound, it's not bad at all imo. I was ready for a train wreck! hahaha

I definitely agree she could have done more with your eyes. I don't think you look bad at all though. Maybe you can stick with the same girl, and just tell her you want more of a pop. See how that goes. I'm sure she'd appreciate the fact that you didn't just run the other way, but instead gave her a chance to perfect your face (not that you're not perfect already!)

thank you all so much :) i think it needs more sparkly-ness to it and a little more pink ? she said the day of she would use a few individual eye lashes to make them stand out more. i just dont want it to be the day of the wedding and thinking -- awwwww i should have just bought primer and done this myself.

i don't think it's bad either, i do agree that she could do a little more on the eye, but i'm sure if you explained to her what you want she'd be able to fix it. it just looks very natural and it sounds like you were looking for something more noticeablei'd give her another try though

I think it looks good!  I agree that there needs to be more pop around the eyes.  I think that if you don't normally wear a lot of makeup, you may think it looks overwhelming in person, but really it looks good.

I also think it looks really nice. I agree though, that adding a shimmer eye shadow or some kind of sparkle will give it more of a pop that is "wedding day make-up". Maybe you could ask her to just try the eyes again?

Maybe it looks strange to you because you aren't use to wearing that much makeup. I too felt a little weird the first time I went for a trial. I think it looks good though.

i agree with pp, it looks nice, you need more eye makeup, and also some more cheek color

I honestly don't think it's dark at all, though I do love a smokey eye.  I think it looks really pretty, but because of the cameras flashing, it needs a lil more of a pop.

At my first makeup trial, the artist used browns on my eyes as well because I too have blue/green eyes. I understand why she used it, because it is flattering to blue eyes, but I did not like the way it looked on me. I didn't realize just how much I hated it until I got home, though, so I had to schedule another trial. The second time around I explained to her what I didn't like about the makeup and we went over different shades that could be used and whatnot. She used deep plums and a little bit of shimmer the second time and I absolutely LOVED it. It was very glamorous without looking too trendy or dated.Explain to the artist what you didn't like about the look that she created. Be specific, and don't be afraid of insulting her by telling her what you didn't like.

Didn't see the pictures before I posted. I think it looks very nice, actually. I had an image in my head that was nothing like the pictures you posted. It's simpler than what you probably wanted, but it still looks very nice.

Wow it looks really nice!  I agree with most others.  I'm the type that always wears eyeliner and mascara and I like the dark look on eyes.  So I would even go darker.  At least add some more eyeliner.

I think it is really nice - very natural, but like others said maybe you want a little more Pop.  I would just tell her that. She should understand.

thank you so much for all your helpful comments :) I will talk to her and see what she says. i think another huge problem is that im not exactly sure what i want-- i want shimmery but not white or barbie pink, but then i still want a little contrast on my eyes; sun kissed cheeks without having a lot of foundation on because im not used to it and it really bothers me. i should have thought about this a while ago, but i thought i was going to have much more time before my husband came home to do more trials ( ill wear a marti gras mask if it gets him home sooner) and i wont know till last second when he will be back. i think thats what has me more in a panic -- that i thought it would be perfect the first time and now i dont know if i have time to go back. its very pretty, just not what i was thinking. thank you so much for all your help, it is greatly appreciated. p.s- apologies for the gross bathroom in the background- i took the pictures to send to my husband, not thinking anything of it, and then washed my face :)

Sorry you weren't happy :(I don't think you should feel bad that you didn't like it. Just tell your hairdresser that it wasn't your style.I think I would try to find someone else. I would want to feel completely happy. Plus, there are so many good make-up artists on this board that you will find someone you like. I used Jeanine Mangan www.jmmakeupdesigns.com

I agree with all the girls, definitely more on the eyes, but it looks really great, I think you should give her another try tell her you didn't feel it was enough and exactly what you want.
