i feel like a broken record...

Hello everyone, like noted up top i feel like a broken record... I was hoping if anyone knows of venues in Central NJ or within a half of Old bridge but that except minimum 50 ppl and no more that $100 pps. I'm having a hard time with places getting emails back that the mini is 100-130 to 150... now i seem to be looking at tent rentals... which i doubt will happen. I also found this one place called liberty house? and also i saw a yacht that goes to sandy hook... ughhh i just dunno.

Look at The Mill in Spring Lake Heights.  They have a downstairs room that I think is beautiful.  I would have had my wedding in that room if I could have.  Also if you do a winter wedding January, February or March plates are 64.95 w/o tax and grat.  Good Luck!

Cambridge Inn in Spotswood. Maybe the smaller (front/atrium-like) room at the Buttonwood Manor in Matawan... even if their food has gone downhill in recent years. Bart's in Matawan Bridgewater Manor has a smaller room and their prices are well below $100pp. Maggianos in Bridgewater? Farrington Manor? East Brunswick Chateau? Triumph Brewing Co in Princeton. Nassau Inn? I know attybride had a smaller reception, like 80 people, there. Liberty House is expensive, like $200pp.

We had our e-party at the marriott in bridgewater. We had about 50 people and I'm pretty sure it was less than $100pp. Also did you look into restaurants instead of traditional banquet halls?

Sir John's in North Brunswick Pierre's in South Brunswick/Monmouth Junction My shower was at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty in Pt. Pleasant and the room we were in had about 50 people in it. Their regular reception room can be split in 2 as well. There was a b-day party and a christening there the same day as my shower. My cousin has a lot of parties in the upstairs room (private) at the Sand Bar in Brielle. It's casual but very beachy. Monticello Bistro in South Amboy is moving to Red Bank soon and I have no idea about how big they're going to be but their food is excellent.

I said the same thing the other day to her, Seabass. I think looking at a restaurant would be a great idea since your minimum is low.

you are def going to have trouble finding a venue with a 50 person min. for $100/person. i think you are going to need to focus on resturants and have a day wedding. all of the big reception halls are going to have larger min.'s even for a day wedding. here are some rec's for monmouth county: raven and the peach, fair haven salt creek grill, rumson maltisee, belmar mccloones rum runners, monmouth beach buona sera, red bank good luck!

Did you check out Courtyard on Main in Freehold, or St. Clement's Reception Center in Matawan? We once stumbled on a good Cuban restaurant in Atlantic Highlands ... Havana Tropical Cafe. We ate outdoors and it was really nice (little waterfall in the back), and the food and service were wonderful. The outdoor space would be really nice for 50 people. Maybe you could talk to them about renting the place out for a reception. Tim McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park (that might be pushing your $100pp limit, though, unless you're not counting tax and tip in that number), or maybe even Asbury Lanes if you would be up for a bowling alley. I e-mailed them and they said they've done both casual and formal receptions, but we mixed it because we're marrying in Jersey City and it's too far for us. Maybe try The Chandelier in Bayonne. I admit that it's not pretty outside, but once you get inside it's really nice. I was there for an awards banquet and the food and service are good, and a friend was a BM in a wedding there a couple years ago and said it was nice. Plus it doesn't cater to many weddings so they might be more willing to work with you in terms of minimums and pricing. I think it'd get more business if not for its location (it's actually attached to a diner, although it has its own entrance - but it's convenient because it's literally right off the Turnpike exit for 14A). My dad suggested The Pointe in Jersey City to me and FI, but it only holds 100 max and we have more people so we didn't even look into it. It's in the Port Liberte complex near Liberty State Park. 2 Chapel Avenue, Jersey City: 201-985-9854Tracey's Nine Mile House in Little Ferry (I found this in a search and have never heard of it on here so IDK the pricing or minimum): http://www.traceys.com/weddings.html

Did anyone mention Berkley Plaza?  Remember they are going back to 70's pricing if you book on the 15th of this month I think.  Maybe if you do a friday or a sunday they wont need you to meet as high of a minimum?

Oh no stay away from Berkeley Plaza. MB had a pretty bad experience there when she was looking and I went to a wedding there that was mediocre at best!

The Holiday Inn in Tinton Falls was also having a special - $49pp on a Friday and $59pp on a Saturday as well but not sure about the min. The price isn't the problem - or shouldn't be, anyway, there are a lot of reasonably priced places out there- it is is the minimum.

The food, honestly, wasn't all that bad taste-wise. But picking a fajita station, where I saw the red sauce the meat & veggies was in dribbled down people's clothes, was not a good idea. The food in the chafing dishes wasn't hot either. The service downright sucked though. Cake and pastries/cookies were out but there was no coffee for another half hour. They let people into the cocktail hour room before the food was even IN the chafing dishes. That is completely inexcusable, you don't let people IN until the food is OUT.

We didn't want to book Berkeley Plaza. but that was 90% because of the person we met with when we were touring it. If someone more professional had been showing us around then I think it could've been in the running. I have no clue how the food and service is. There was a baby shower there the day that we toured it. The main ballroom was really nice - I think that might've been our favorite room of all the places we saw. The upstairs ballroom wasn't very nice IMO.   We also checked out Galloping Hill in Union. That was another case of us disliking the person we met with. But you get a LOT of food for a pretty good price (in the $60-70pp range). My dad was there for his friend's wedding and said the food and service were O.K., but there was a really loud and trashy group in the next room and that really distracted him from his friend's reception (and he's not the type to complain about that sort of thing, normally). I don't think the place is very fancy, but as long as there isn't an obnoxious party there the same day it seems like a good value.

Are you sure of the 50 person minimum.  When Fi started planning our we thought our guest list would barely hit, we ended up inviting 221 (withi other on the border) and are having 150 Guest lists have a way of growingIf you are willing to go North. I had my bridal shower at the Regency House in Wayne which they just remodeled and it was excellent

I am doing my wedding at the Crowne Plaza in Edison. They start at 69 per person and do small weddings

These are more like 45 from old bridge, but def. will do a min of 50 for under 100 depending on the menu: Victor's Chateau - we had our baby shower there, it was great.  we have also had our company party there. The Brownstone - also have had our company parties there and are having it there this year.  they have many different rooms to choose from.  if you're having a day wedding, the glass room is really nice.

neilly18and yes its only 50 give or take a couple ppl. I always wanted small anyways and my FI wants small too so that what were doing. I rather go to an island and have ppl pay for their own tickets but whatever that's not going to happen lol.

I went to Ria Mar for an event in the ballroom, it's nice. However, because it is a restaurant, parking is very difficult.  Don't get a buffet either, the food was cold after being out for 10 minutes.

I know my links got screwed up, so just in case, here's the NJ Knottie who had the reception at the Riverview Pavilion: http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/default.aspx?username=Mrs.Shortie28&NestProfile=0She had about 50 guests and it worked out to about $50pp. Her menu is in her bio. She didn't have a sit-down dinner but it looked like it was plenty to fill her guests.
