hotel "after party" - WWYD?

Hi girls! I know you always have good ideas so I thought I would ask for some input:my 11/21 wedding is at Bridgewater Manor and we booked Hotel Sierra for the hotel for our guests... the hotel doesnt have a bar/restaurant area, however you are able to book their private room and bring in food and alcohol that you want... I want to do something after the reception with all of my guests that are at the hotel... but nothing too major... I was thinking just wine and beer and some snacks (pretzels, chips, nuts, etc)... does this sound ok? kinda stinks that there isnt a bar.. so im looking for some ideas! TIA :)

Which Hotel Sierra did you book? I'm using them and I was under the impression they did have a bar.

This is exactly what we did. Both between the ceremony (1:30PM at a church 35 or so minutes away) and the reception (6PM) we had a "hospitality suite" set up just off the lobby. My cousin was like my DOC. She had cheese & crackers, chips, dips, etc and beer and margaritas. There was a fridge in our suite so we kept everything cold in there, then set it all back up again after the reception and we were up til 3AM in that same area and no one bothered us.

oh ok, I'm using the one in Parsipanny. I think booking the private room sounds like a good idea. How much extra are they charging you for this?

edit that: both between the ceremony and reception as well as after the reception. I got too involved with saying what we had, lol.

For us it was free, but they had just renovated the hotel and the coordinator we had was new (I think...), so they may not have thought of charging anything til recently.

i talked to my coordinator at the hotel today and they said it is $200 for the private room... wish it was cheaper but i def think its worth it

$200 is definitely worth it. We had in the neighborhood of 25 rooms booked, at least 2 people per room (more like 3-4), most everyone came to one or both "parties" and a lot of people did both. The ones who didn't come late at night were the ones who were OOT and leaving early the next day.

definetly do it...it will be worth it...and thats great that you have the whole room to yourself...we had the bar and actually got them to stay open later for us - but was very crowded...there was another wedding that night that stayed at the hotel so between all of us, was crowded....

Getting married November 7, 2009. We booked the room in the lobby at the Hotel Sierra for the afterparty too it was $200. We are just having snacks and alcohol.  We wished they had a bar but this is a good alternative. I wished they had a bar but I just went to a wedding afterparty at the hotel and their were other brides with their guests their too so I am glad we just have our own room.

We did that at our hotel, except they gave us a conference room for free. Turned into one huge game of flip cup with my aunts/uncles/cousins/friends. It was slightly odd but extremely entertaining.
