Had no idea flowers were so much!!!

Went to 4 florists yesterday and was shocked! Guess you just have to bite the bullet!  Its funny how you are treated when you walk in really says alot about the place.  I also think you get what you pay for.  If anything it narrowed down who I plan on using and not using.  Interesting day...

I am terrified to receive the quote from the florist. I got the quote from the stationer, and my jaw is still on the floor!

I'm doing my own flowers for the wedding to avoid spending so much money on something that will be dead by the end of the night! You can order flowers wholesale online and they get delivered to your front door a couple of days before your wedding. If you're planning on something simple and are the least bit crafty (believe me, I'm not a crafty DIY person at heart but I can do this) it could save you a lot of money. I'm planning on doing hand-tied bouquets of ivory roses and blue hydrangea, with the same thing for centerpieces and corsages, and rose bouts. All the flowers, fillers, and materials will cost me about $400. If you're interested in trying it yourself, I'm using the following website for the flowers http://www.theflowerexchange.com.

Where did you go? Maybe people can help you out with lower-priced florists?

Are the flowers you are requesting in season at the time?

I actually had the opposite experience.  I was expecting them to be much more than what we got quoted.  I highly suggest getting a quote from Avenue Florist in Elizabeth.  Im pretty sure other knotties are using them who were very happy with price and quality.

I actually booked my florist yesterday. When I set up the meeting I told them, "This is my budget -- what can you do for this?"

Here is an idea:  Go to www.pacificcallas.comand order your calla lillies to be delivered at the venue.  Pay just a little set-up fee and have the venue put the lillies into Vases you will provide- also you can purchase these vases from wholeseller- there is one near Garfield, NJ i can ck with my FI more exact location if you are interested..  You can combine Lillies with lots of votives.. and there is your center piece- Chic and elegant.

I feel your pain.I've seen lots of people use non-floral centerpieces, too--candles, etc.  That can save a lot, I'm sure.I am not creative or crafty, though, so at least I like the florist and feel that he will do a great job.

Found that place for the vases- its called "Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange" and it is in Saddlebrook. Go there in-person, you can get them on google.
