Well we finally bought the Canon T1i yesterday and love it so far.  It just came with the basic lens for now which is fine.  My question is what case do you have for your camera.  I have been looking around and want something that does not look too much like a camera bag and came across this one:  http://www.ebags.com/crumpler/the_5_million_dollar_home/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=108387&productid=1344701&sourceID=BECOME01I like it, but is it practical?  I want to ask for a new lens or flash for Christmas.  So in that what would be the next lens you would want?

I use a backpack to carry my gear.  When I am just using one lens I carry it in a lowepro zoom 2 toploader...very quick to get the camera in and out and it's not that big.  The crumper is a great bag too if you like that style. The kit lens is fine.  Depending on what you take pics of, I would go for a 28-135, 55-250, or 50mm f1.8 prime. The 28-135 is a good walk around lens and offers some zoom, but not real wide, so won't work good for taking pictures of people.  It's a good vacation lens. The 55-250 is a zoom, great bang for the buck, but limited use unless you take a lot of pics of sports, etc.  I use it a lot to photograph my  nephews little league games, etc. The 50mm prime, is very inexpensive and has very good image quality.  It's a great portrait lens, and because it's an F1.8 it has a narrow depth of field (blurry backgrounds), and great in low light. As for the flash, get an external flash, an EX430 is a great starting point, and puts the camera flash to shame.I am actually selling my 28-135 mm lens, it's only a yr old and in mint condition.  It came with my 40d kit.  Let me know if you are interested.  It sells for over 400 and I am selling it for 250 with a UV filter.

Thank you so much for all that info.  I will have to talk to MH about the lens and see what he says.  Do you have a wbsite that you use when deciding on the lens?  Any sites that are a better value then getting them from an actual camera store that I know will charge more?

BHphotoAdoramaAmazonI stick with those three. Here is the link to the lense I am selling for $250.  It would be a nice compliment to the kit lens you have and offers more reach (zoom).http://www.amazon.com/Canon-28-135mm-3-5-5-6-Standard-Cameras/dp/B00006I53S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1255971504&sr=8-1
