Favor Idea

I'd like to do a chinese take-out box filled with 5 different flavored fortune cookies (original, cherry, orange, lemon & chocolate - to match our colors). Each cookie would have a different message from "Thanks for sharing our day" to maybe a quote about love/marriage. The box would maybe have our monogram on it. Thoughts?

I personally wouldn't like it - but I HATE fortune cookies.

I think that's a few too many fortune cookies -- especially if people don't like them!

I don't like fortune cookies either.  I also would think it was weird if you weren't chinese, which I don't know if you are or not.

I think its cute but I would just do one or 2 fortune cookies.  5 is alot.  You could do the mini chinese boxes.

Sorry, I meant to include I'm half-Chinese. I was thinking it would be a nice way to acknowledge my heritage.

I like fortune cookies but I've never had flavored ones and I also don't like when food is artificially colored like that. Like a red fortune cookie wouldn't look appetizing to me and I wouldn't eat it. So I vote for skipping the box and giving out 1 original fortune cookie and I would put cute sayings on the inside rather than just "Thank You".

I did red take-out boxes with 1 fortune cookie inside with random messages (the boxes were used later for the candy buffet).  I used e-fortunecookie.com, their cookies were GREAT but I don't think they flavors.  I bought the chocolate-dipped kind and wrote my own custom fortunes.  They were a hit!

I think it's a much cuter idea after knowing you're part chinese. I went to a wedding once where neither the groom nor bride was chinese (not at all).  They gave out these plastic fortune cookies for favors. It was BY FAR the weirdest favor ever and went right in the trash.

OH and I have leftover boxes if you want!  I printed 2" circle labels with our monogram on it and stuck them on.  Inside was also a photoshare card and other stuff.  It was all DIY except the cookie baking of course ;)

I like your thought process, but think you are going overboard with the fortune cookies, maybe just do a simplier favor with a fortune cookie on top, or on the side.

I think one fortune cookie would be plenty. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't fortune cookies an American custom? I think it makes more sense since you are part Chinese, but I don't think I'd fault a non-Chinese person for giving fortune cookies since the cookies aren't even really an authentic Chinese custom.

I think one or two chocolate dipped fortune cookies would be yummy and cute with the different sayings.  5 I think is a bit much as most people won't eat that many.

They have chocolate covered fortune cookies. Do one of those in a box and have different colored boxes to represent your wedding colors that way - you could put them at each individual setting or stack them on a table for guests -

LOVE the single chocolate dipped fortune cookie... yummy, not as traditional, too much much, and still a hint of chinese flaire.  cute!i think the original idea might be a tad too much.

I liked Veena's chocolate covered fortune cookies. They were fun and everyone wanted to check out their fortune. 5 seems a bit too many. I disagree that you have to be Chinese to do this. No one asked Renee if she was Italian when she gave out pasta sauce (she may very well be, but no one asked).

I know Tif...I just thought it was weird. No one has to be anything to give anything. A plastic fortune cookie was just plain weird. I couldn't even eat it! Now a chocolate fortune cookie I would try.

the pasta sauce was made by her venue though wasn't it, if I remember correctly. Which links in a way to her wedding.

Well I can see that you have absolutely no use for a plastic fortune cookie, LOL! Edible is fun though :)
