Grrr My Doc Just took away my fun

Ive been having tummy issues (tmi but burping, nauseous, dry heaving cough and no I am not preggo). So after two months of wanting to die and hate going to the docs I finally went today I have a gastroesophageal reflux, which is basically acid reflux. He gives me meds tells me if it doesn't go away in a week to call him and I have to go to another doc.  Heres the kicker.  He wrote down the things I should stay away from...AlcoholChocolateCoffeeSpicy FoodsEating FastSodaKILL ME (I had soda but thats 1)FI goes to him "why don't you just kill her now" after he mentioned the first three.Oh and Stress and Anxiety set its off too...thanks doc I'll work on that!

Holy crap!  That would never work with me.  Besides the coffee, all the rest of that stuff I could never stay away from.  I would just end up being super acid reflux-y at my wedding.

I'm cutting down, onto white instead of red and only a glass if that. Oh and BTW I drink like 4 cups of coffee a day.

Dana I am already dying, of course I came home stressed and poured a glass of wine, and I'm staring at it feeling guilty! God damnit!

Ugh sorry Cheryl!  Hit the grocery store tomorrow (or super Wal-mart, yippee!!) and go on a spending spree of Chery-friendly foods so you always have options at home to keep you from straying.  It will be well worth it!

Ok so tea covers the coffee.  But now you gotta find replacements for everything else!

I can't totally cut out the coffee, I'll cut back (moderation is always the key) and see what happens.  So instead of my 10 am cup of coffee I'll do a cup of tea.  This SUCKS! I'm miserable and will continue to be until I get over my childish tempertantrum! (Stomps feet!)

Cheryl, tea is even worse than coffee in terms of acid. I'm surprised the doctor didn't mention that.

Is it really?  Crap!  Even one of those healthy teas, like green tea?

Veena I just read on a site that caffeine in general is bad for it, I typically don't drink anything but green tea when I have tea, I'll guess I'll have to try to ween off caffeine in general, I can't imagine quitting any of thise stuff 1 month before the wedding (smokings bad too but I already have ANOTHER quit date in mind) I'm just so terrified of having to go to a gastro doc and finding out I have something like an ulcer. I'm a bit of a hypocondriact (sp) and a big baby when it comes to doctors procedures.

I would die especially the coffee and chocolate.  The wine too would stink, but I really on drink on Friday nights and the weekend.  Sorry Cheryl!

C - there are tons of decaffeinated green teas!  That's what I always buy and it tastes exactly the same.I'm going to go make myself a cup right now.  Aren't I an insensitive biotch?

Yeekes thats awful. I had a similar problem but it was caused by stress. I am pretty sure ginger is supposed to help digestion.

I have this too.... this is the reason I do not drink alcohol or coffee- both of these things typically make me sick even from just one glass/cup. I would say do everything in moderation.... once you know your personal "triggers" you'll know how much to really deprive yourself. Lentils and beans also kill me, but I love them!

I couldn't give up the coffee, I probably drink as much as you or more.

FI has this and the same list.  Now he just takes Prilosec everyday and on days when we have chilli and beer tailgating he takes an extra one.  You will find ways to get around it once they get you in control.
