Marriage License question for those NOT born in the US

My Wedding was almost 5 years ago and I don't remember what I did...can anyone help?My sister is getting married in July, in Livingston. It says in order to obtain a Marriage License she needs to bring a Birth Certificate (translated into English). Is this 100% for everyone?? What if she wasn't born in the US and her BC was not translated? Do they accept a Passport in that case?Thanks!Julia

I was born in the US, but I did not have to show a birth certificate to get my marriage license. I got mine in Nutley.

Really? I wonder if they ever asked to see mine either! Thank you! I can't seem to get anyone on the phone over at the Town Hall!

I got mine in Montville on Monday and they required a birth cert OR a passport.

A passport in most cases will supersede a birth cert, so I'm sure its fine
